NOY race 52:51 [3] 4.6 km (11:29 / km)
NOY at Pelton
Late start as we awoke late and then a quick visit to the car-boot sale at Marathon, or whatever the hell it is called now, stadium car park. Got lots of stuff, mainly shoes and books, for LeepBax. Did I tell you he is an egg-head? This week he went to the museum one day and then the Library the next. Loved them both and he's always wanting us to read books to him.
Not sure if I was the only one or not, but immediately after looking at my map after punching the start unit, I tried to brush off the squashed insect that was on my map. Trid this a few times until I realised it was printed. Next thing I did was to lokk at my control descriptions to see the code and feature I was heading towards only to notice I didn't have any and figured I'd left them on the table when filling out my block card. Oh well I will just have to be certain I am at the right control. In the end this probably cost me about 15 seconds at one control when I didn't realise it was on a termite mound adjacent to the watercourse/gully and not actually in the gully.
Starting off I felt fairly good and felt much better than my last couple of runs. Maybe I'm passed the worst of this illness as my now much less tickly throat might suggest. I was in 6th place at number one and managed to still be in 8th over 3/4 of the way around, but blundered a bit, possibly to a bit of fatigue rearing its ugly head.
Still, cant be overly disappointed but would have liked to be a bit closer to the top. will miss this weeks event at Stanford so I guess thats it for QB111 training. We'll see if I can get myself away from last position in the M55A class on at least one of the days (it wont be the sprint).
