Note

I currently can't walk let alone run. Cycling could be dangerous as I can't bend my legs so swimming and massage is the way forward I think!

Orienteering (Saunders Mountain Maratho) 5:01:00 [3] 16.0 km (18:49 / km) +915m 14:38 / km
shoes: Adidas Swoops

We just made the start at 8.30 despite waking up pretty early. My claims of I never get cold had to be revoked as my superlight sleeping bag was not quite warm enough for me. I kept waking up thinking I should put my waterproofs on but not wanting to wake Jayne. We did a bit of a kit swap before going up the hill and then trudged up the first big climb, scrambling in places. We made good progress for the whole course and thanks to Jayne's navigation made some good route choices, especially at the end when I tried to take us up an extra hill or two that we didn't need to go up. The last ascent before the finish was a killer but not as tough as the descent through Snake pass or whatever it was called, as it was soft underfoot and my itbs were sore by then. It was nice to be out in the sun and the views were stunning. It's just a shane we missed out on being the first female pairing by about 6 mins. It was a great experience though and more sociable than the OMM.

Orienteering long (Saunders Mountain Maratho) 4:15:57 [3] 14.4 km (17:46 / km) +735m 14:10 / km
shoes: Adidas Swoops

The first climb was tough but familiar territory for me. When we were on the top we made good progress and had no navigation problems. After the Long Cliff control though I think we tired and made some minor bad route choices. I went over on my ankle too which didn't help as for that leg I spent all my moving time trying to ascertain how bad it was. It wasn't too swollen or painful though and we were well placed for Day 2.
