Orienteering race 1:44:01 [5] **** 8.9 km (11:41 / km) +270m 10:09 / km
spiked:18/23c

Long distance at Chinaman Flat / 1:10000. Great long distance course from Dion K. Found the technical demand in the mining areas almost overwhelming at times. The bracken really complicated the visibility and my map orientatiion going into the circle was frequently poor. Huge directional error out of 18 - doubled the length of this longer leg and had to suffer the humiliation of running through the assembly/parking area!!! Fat Rat sledged me, commenting that he hoped I had better direction playing golf! Not sure what I did. Pleased with my persistence - I kept having a go.

Orienteering race 17:32 [5] *** 3.2 km (5:29 / km) +55m 5:03 / km
spiked:15/17c

NOL Sprint at Ballarat Uni. Very pleased with my effort. Was great to have Warren K 1 minute behind me. When he caught me I tried to hang on for a couple of controls, just to see how the best go about their business. Enjoyed the venue and the course.

Orienteering race 43:10 [5] **** 4.0 km (10:48 / km) +130m 9:17 / km
spiked:15/20c

Middle distance at Surface Hill / 1:7500. Lost a lot of time in the circle on 5 occasions. Just couldn't cope with the map reading, even at this scale, and the technical demand. Simplified well between circles. Great course from Geoff L.

Orienteering 30:00 [3]

Felt privileged to have the opportunity to join the National Squad Camp for a final sprint training session at Damascus College (old stomping ground of a well known AP trogger and Cats supporter!). Time includes warm up, 2 x 1km loops, and control collection. The first loop emphasised route choice, the second was highly technical. Great session. Met Rob Lewis for first time and really enjoyed listening to him and Hawk08 speak pre and post exercise.
