Running 39:15 [3] 7.21 km (5:27 / km)
ahr:172 max:190

Drove to the Mud Pond map (which i made) and ran on the trails there. I decided to take a map along, so naturally I grabbed my Pawtuckawa WHNO map because it's impossible to read even with a microscope. It was good while I was running. The trail was narrow and windy so I didn't have long to look at my map before I had to dodge a tree. I was able to read a lot better than I thought, but that may be because it was on trails. It was really hot so I ended up leaving a few lbs out in the woods. It's ok, though. I've had enough water that I think my net weight change is positive.

Orienteering race (Red Classic) 1:12:45 [4] 7.3 km (9:58 / km) +310m 8:13 / km

A very fast run. Unfortunately, I absolutely hated the area. There were too many trails and the woods were thick so the ideal route seemed to always involve a trail. I felt like I was running a yellow course. The whole race seemed to be really fast on the trails, and really slow through the woods. I caught Nate at 11 or 12 and we leapfrogged the rest of the course. I do believe we were both orienteering, though. I know I was.

Orienteering race (Middle Qualifier) 32:00 [4] 4.3 km (7:27 / km) +95m 6:42 / km

A very good race from me. I was impressed with myself, actually. I caught a west point runner early on and we were trading back and forth for a bit. A CSU runner caught us (Ken?) after I screwed up number 6. I managed to stay behind (not following) the CSU runner and lose the Cadet. I was definately running faster than I normally would have which made the orienteering aspect a little more challenging. A great race over all (I beat Eric Kemp as well :P )

Orienteering race (Middle A Final) 49:46 [4] 5.8 km (8:35 / km) +150m 7:36 / km

This was a brutal race. I was sooo hot it wasn't even funny. Aparently I was doing really well in the beginning (which I felt I was) but I lost it after a slight bobble on 2 and just moving very slow to 4 (my lead didn't last long). Joe caught me at 4 and passed me on the way to 5. I would have done much better had it not been for the heat. I needed more water and a 10 degree temperature drop very badly after number 6. My orienteering was getting rather sloppy near the end, and I think luck was on my side.

Biking (Stationary) 30:01 [3]
ahr:170 max:184

I decided to just get on the bike so I wouldn't have to stress my hip (it's been bothing me). I didn't have any trouble with the hip, but I was tired after 8 minutes... the last 22 were brutal.

Running intervals 21:02 [4] 4.7 km (4:29 / km)
ahr:182 max:208

Dad yelled at me for only biking and said I didn't know if my hip would hurt or not and that I should have run. So I ran. I was able to do a mileish warm up then a 600 hard, 300 easy, and 1200 hard. Half way through the 600 easy (after the 1200) my hip began to bother me so I decided I better save my hip instead of trying to improve my performace cuz I can't run without a hip. I started slowly jogging back but it was no good so I sat down on a log and stretched it for a good 2 minutes.

Running warm up/down 11:11 [3] 1.82 km (6:09 / km)

After stretching i was able to jog home. The pain in my hip was never enough to stop me.

Orienteering 1:25:34 [3]
ahr:156 max:197

A long course (ish) on a 1:15000 map. It was tough because not everything was marked. Cliffs were a lot smaller on the map than they were in real life. I lost my confidence in the map early which took a while to regain. I had a bad mistake on the second to last control. I drifted way too far left and it took a while to figure it out.
