Orienteering race 49:45 [3] *** 4.0 km (12:26 / km) +215m 9:48 / km
spiked:13/13c shoes: Yellow NB T840

Very fine race at Joe Grant North. Steep and open. No errors and only a couple of hesitations. One of my cleanest runs. Then a fine time sitting at the finish under the live oaks and watching folks come in, waiting for Erik and then Rhonda.

Orienteering 34:16 [3] *** 2.4 km (14:17 / km)
spiked:8/10c shoes: Yellow NB T840

Middle distance green course at Joe Grant. Beautiful day if kind of hot, beautiful area. I had trouble interpreting the map on #2 and #3, particularly #3, where the control was supposed to be at a rootstock at the border of white and green woods. I couldn't tell what was white and what was green, particularly because there was a strip of what I thought was yellow in the mix, so spent a long time in the middle of the green trying to discern whether some of that was white, and looking for an invisible boundary. Finally relocated off a lone tree up on a spur, and didn't realize until later that the lone tree wasn't mapped. The feature on the map I thought I was relocating from was a dead tree further down the hill. Close enough though, and finally got the point. About 2 minutes lost on #2 and 7 minutes on #3. A lot on a short course. Otherwise fine, and a very pleasant area.

Orienteering 19:30 [3] *** 2.2 km (8:52 / km) +50m 7:58 / km
spiked:8/15c

Sprint course at Joe Grant State Park. Excellent course set by Dennis, and amazing how much I could bobble in such a short time. Kept moving, but overran a couple, misread the map a few times, etc. First in M-60, by a few seconds.

Running 1:25:00 [3] 7.5 mi (11:20 / mi)
slept:4.0

At Annadel St Park with Sean and Erik. Up the road past the ranger station, where, alas, there were none of the free maps. Thence up the
Channel Trail to North Burma, and once up the hill across the top of a big open area and down to Lake Ilsanjo. Around the lake and back via Rough Go and Cobblestone trails. Hard time getting up the hills, but felt young again running down the Cobblestone trail, agile of foot and stretching out nicely. Very pleasant. A favorite running route, and Erik agreed that it was one of the nicest he's ever been on. A few ankle twinges for Erik, who was running without tape or brace. He'll tape up for o this weekend.

Note

After lunch, a ride out to Dillon Beach, and watching Sean and Erik swim in the icy Pacific, but not for long.

Running 44:54 [3] 4.4 mi (10:12 / mi)
weight:161.5lbs

Down Barbourtown and Hansen, up Bunker Hill and home. Erik is re-energized after a call home to Sweden and is now planning two-a-day workouts. He got up at 5:15 ready for action and we went out in the dark. On the uphill section he turned back after a while to run back to the bottom, then passed me at a speed with which I am no longer familiar about 3/4 mile later.

Missed out on Tuesday morning crossfit with the girls. Will have to try to catch that up later.
