Orienteering 1:12:00 [3] *** 5.2 km (13:51 / km)
spiked:8/13c shoes: Yellow NB T840

Day 2 of WI A meet, Green course. Resolved to be a bit more aggressive, but consequently had more trouble. Some good legs, including #4 where I ran hard to the distinctive spur, and #5 where I was in good control all the way in, but many minor bobbles and one big stinker. Got on the right trail to #8, but left too early and crossed another trail without realizing it, meaning that when I tried to recover I spent some time wandering on the wrong trail, losing about 10 minutes.

Orienteering race 1:08:51 [3] 5.2 km (13:14 / km) +153m 11:33 / km
shoes: Yellow NB T840

US Champs Green X course. Cat's Meow map in Kettle Moraine country. Generally went pretty well, although I had to go slowly to stay in contact, and also because it was slippery. Stayed on the ridges and hills from about halfway to 2 on for easier navigating and footing. Only one bad control, #5, where I missed a hill and found another and pretty soon was lost, until I happened upon #10, and so knew where I was once again. Saw Walter Siegenthaler just before 11, and he was running with spikes and I couldn't keep up.

Orienteering race 54:50 [3] 4.4 km (12:28 / km) +165m 10:30 / km
spiked:11/13c weight:161.5lbs shoes: Yellow NB T840

US champs model event, Hepcat map. Ran the course like it was a regular meet, slow and careful with all the depressions. No major errors, but hard to go fast and keep adequate contact. Very instructive.

Gym 15:00 [3]

short stretch of Rhonda's class. Had to leave on a business excursion.

Note

AOWN. My friend Steve mounted a wildlife cam along one of my trails where it crosses a stream and got this action:

Gym 35:00 [3]
weight:163lbs

Part of Rhonda's morning class, reasonably well attended today.

Running (woods run) 15:42 [3] 2.0 km (7:51 / km) +85m 6:28 / km
shoes: NB MT840

Sprint A. Cooler weather, leaves coming down. A good hard effort. Amazing that my back feels fine when I do this, but aches on slower runs.
Another PR, this time by 15 seconds.

cycling (spinning bike) 30:00 [3]

with Rhonda and Julie

Gym 15:00 [3]

circuit of 8 exercises: box jumps, burpees, push presses, walking lunges, kettlebell swings, back extensions, situps and ball throws. 30 reps each, except burpees, although next time I could do 30 of them, too.
