Orienteering (Yellow) 40:00 [3] *** 2.8 km (14:17 / km) +45m 13:13 / km
spiked:14/14c slept:10.0 shoes: New Balance- 769

OK, so let me start out by saying I would've hit somewhere around 30 minutes if all had gone according to plan. However, first I lost the clue sheet after control 4, so I had no idea what control numbers I was supposed to be punching. Time was lost here because I panicked and slowly jogged between 4 and 5 looking in vain for the sheet. But because it was Yellow, everything was pretty easy to find.... until control 13. It seems that I pointed my map the wrong way after 12 and sprinted off in the wrong direction. So I ended up running up to the reservoir so I could figure out where the heck I was. It was pretty easy after that, except I accidentally spiked a different course's control in the 13 box and spiked 13 in the 14 box.
I am really nervous about running orange at West Point.

Note

I was also just informed that a trio of Webster studs came through after me in a group and pulled off 30 minutes, knocking me from first place.

Note

Karl (Carl?) is an O-guru. Who'd have thought that compasses are unnecessary when it's sunny because our shadows point North?

Running (Easy) (short) 18:28 [3] 2.8 mi (6:36 / mi)
shoes: New Balance- 769

i wanted to make up for how slow i was at Cobbs Hill, so i went out for a short and quick run. i felt really sick and bloated, but that was probably just the sub i ate for lunch.

Running (Easy) (long) 56:46 [3] 7.2 mi (7:53 / mi)
slept:13.0 shoes: New Balance- 769

I forgot the bridge is out, so
route i wanted to run
route i had to run
I realize I should have either gone further or faster, but I've never run Lake going East, so I was unsure of myself. The last mile I picked it up to about 7 minute pace. Or at least that's what it felt like... my sweats were really heavy by that point.

Note
(rest day)

Thought I was going to be volunteering with the team, but found out I had driver's ed, so I got to learn right and left turns for hours instead.

Running (Easy) warm up/down 10:15 [2]

Running (Hard) race 5:29 [5] 1.6 km (3:26 / km)
shoes: ASICS Hyper Mids

personal best

Running (Hard) race 2:32 [5] 0.8 km (3:10 / km)
shoes: ASICS Hyper Mids

also a pr, but not by as much as the mile was

Running (Hard) race 2:35 [4] 0.8 km (3:14 / km)
shoes: ASICS Hyper Mids

4x800- I have no clue what my time was, but it seemed to be less taxing than the open 8 earlier. probably because there was more rest.

Note

Nate Lyons ran 10:22 in the 3200.
Yeah.
