run 20:00 [2] 2.0 mi (10:00 / mi)

Warm-up/cool-down.

run 1:34:47 [5] 15.51 mi (6:07 / mi)

City of Lakes 25k. Solid run (slightly better than 6 minute pace) for the first 14.5 miles. Stomach cramp in the last mile brought me to a standstill (11 minutes for the last 1.5 miles = ouch!).

orienteering 1:10:00 [3] 7.5 km (9:20 / km)

Orienteering race at Hyland. Ran a moderate pace in 1:10 (3rd place). Due to a mix-up (I started late), many of the controls had been removed so my concentration was far from ideal. Woods were pretty thick with lots of trail running.

Saturday Sep 6, 2003 #

run 50:00 [2] 6.0 mi (8:20 / mi)

Easy run with Jarrow and Rachel (in babyjogger). Amity Creek/ Hawk Ridge. Nice run, legs felt reasonably good.

Friday Sep 5, 2003 #

run 1:20:00 [2] 9.0 mi (8:53 / mi)

Easy run with Darrin and Jarrow through Hartley. Legs felt a bit stiff/tired from the intervals on Thursday.

Thursday Sep 4, 2003 #

run 40:00 [2] 5.0 mi (8:00 / mi)

Warm-up/cool down, UMD, Bagley.

run 20:00 [5] 3.0 mi (6:40 / mi)

Track workout - 4x800m with 400m recovery between ... 2:33, 2:34, 2:38, 2:39. Opened up faster than planned, faded a bit at the end. A little hard to focus with 60+ footballers on the field ... and occasionally on the track.

Wednesday Sep 3, 2003 #

run 45:00 [2] 5.0 mi (9:00 / mi)

Easy run. Looking after Trond and Rachel during the first NMTC fall trail race. After Alegra and Rachel finished their races (4 times 50 meters), I pushed Trond in the babyjogger on dirt road for about 25 minutes, then about 20 minute cool-down with some of the guys after the race.

Tuesday Sep 2, 2003 #

run 2:31:00 [2] 20.0 mi (7:33 / mi)

Long run on the Grandma's course. Nice moderate pace - 7:30s. Hurting by the end.

Note

5-day canoe trip in the Boundary Waters - great time. Aug. 28 - Sep 1. Lots of reasonably hard paddling, but not quite enough to add it to the training diary.
