Event: Nobscot BYOM

3 PM

Orienteering 1:07:49 intensity: (23 @0) + (41:11 @1) + (18:15 @2) + (8:00 @3) *** 6.1 km (11:07 / km) +196m 9:35 / km
ahr:131 max:152 12c shoes: Eton & Eccles (O-Roc 280)

BYOM at Nobscot after dropping off groceries for my parents. Very convenient that this week's event is down the street from them! Certainly makes it feel much less indulgent to use a car to get to the woods.

Orienteered quite well for all but one control, where I stayed high going across a hill and didn't take the hint early enough. My watch indicated essentially zero battery when I started but somehow lasted almost an hour. I think the motivation to get as much of my run as possible recorded on my watch motivated me to keep moving at a more honest effort.

Saw J-J and Nancy in the parking lot on our way out and then changed in the car, so it was almost the same as being at a normal NEOC meet.

Cycling (boxbike) 30:00 [1] 8.0 km (16.0 kph)

It was 45F and rainy and I was tired and had no desire to do anything at all but Lukas was raring for a ride in the box bike. I put on all the layers and Lukas sat under the rain cover in a t-shirt and unzipped jacket. We did a tour of the eastern bulb of the city and got back before I was too uncomfortable.

Brown Lizard course in Acton at Nagog Hill, thanks to the Campbell Clan.

I went alone since the day was fairly unpleasant (40s and raining). My orienteering was so-so but I did accomplish my mission of getting out and moving my legs for a bit.

Orienteering 20:30 intensity: (35 @1) + (14:53 @2) + (5:01 @3) + (1 @4) *** 2.5 km (8:12 / km) +31m 7:44 / km
ahr:160 max:175 7c shoes: Eton & Eccles (O-Roc 280)

Yellow Gecko course for more running.
