The Trossachs WRE classic Race

Really enjoyed this race until I realised at download I'd misspunched. Managed to misspunch on 156 (20) punching 155 instead which was in another re-entrant ~50m north, I saw 156.

Fairly happy with my physical shape around this coarse as I was a little worried how I'd cope with the climb. I was orienteering mainly pretty well though cumulative time was ended up quite substantial. Drugged up on ibuprofen to take the pain away from my knee.

No 2 - I was really happy with my execuation on this and had managed to plan well ahead on the coarse while running it. I hit my AP (small marsh) and then the map going into the control was complete bollocks. Thought back where I had come and was convinced I was in the right place, climbed the spur and back down and then up again. In the end I dropped down and came in from a different AP and found the control. The map was very poor though in this area which whole extra unmapped ridge. (Lost 3mins)

3 - Didn't read description and thought it was on the crag. (20s)

6 - Didn't quite stick to my plan and climbed more than necessary as a result (30s).

11 - didn't check my route and compass enough up the hill and ended up drifting left and far too far up the hill (1min).

16 - Lost concentration and my direction going into the green and ended up eventually having to come back out and relocate (2mins).

21 - Stopped to early - saw a sign by the road which confused me. (30s)

22 - Hadn't planned ahead from this point and started going straight after ~20-30s I realised the round route and ran back. Should have just gone straight in hindsight. (1min)

25 - Climbed too high and had to drop back down around the cliff face and into the control (30s)

There were also a few points where I got stuck at the top of crags and couln't get down (particularly on 10).

Running warm up/down 25:00 [3] 1.8 km (13:53 / km)

Touch Middle Race

Truly awful race. I got #1 nicely but left #1 in slightly the wrong direction and then took a heavy fall hitting my knee pretty hard. I hobbled on towards #2 eventually relocating on the path having realised I went through the buttifly control. Then messed up #3 losing the best part of 45s. Was struggling to focus and my legs were really heavy and just not moving like normal. I think anxiety got the better of me (maybe built up from before hand or maybe hitting my knee?). I lost further time on 11 and then couldn't even find the crossing point to twelve. Managed to refocus a bit for the second half with only one small mistake but my legs still didn't have anything in them.
