English X Country Relays at Berry Hill

On first leg with 2 laps of 2.5km. The first ~1.5km is quite twisty with lots of short ups and downs and plenty of mud.

Tough to get room at the start, pretty packed on a tight course. Impossible to get a rhythm in the first 1.5km and was a case of surging to get past a few and then tucking back in so as not to get knackered too quickly. Through the more open last 1km or so of the first lap the field had stretched out a little and I was then able to settle in. However, it felt very uncomfortable until the end. Felt very unfit and weak. First lap in 9:00, second in 9:36; that is quite a difference. Time to get training again.
