Running 7:30 [3] 1.32 km (5:42 / km)
ahr:145 max:161 slept:8.5 shoes: Adidas Adizero Adios 2 (2)

Woke up coughing and spluttering again but sod it, thought I'd give the 10km a go anyway. Not as long of a WU as planned. It was a bit of a wrestling match to get into and back out of the sports hall to register and dump my bag. Legs feeling lively anyway.

Running race 34:16 intensity: (5:21 @4) + (28:55 @5) 10.05 km (3:25 / km) +28m 3:22 / km

Bolsover 10km

Settled quickly in at a good pace with a target of 33 so 3:18 was the magic number at each km. I hadn't studied the route in detail but expected a slight downhill out and slight uphill back. This was pretty much how the course was although it was only ~10m difference apart from a 10m extra down and up just before half way.

1km - 3:05; 2km - 3:11; 3km - 3:09 4km - 3:18

The first 4km flew by and was feeling good on a mainly flat road route. Did feel it starting to get a harder towards the 4km marker though. HRM show I hit 180bpm at this point which I sustain roughly for a while before it steadily dropped down had obviously gone just beyond my lactate turning point at 180bpm.

5km - 3:22

Slipped off goal pace but had just done a sharp down and back up section of ~200m with ~10m climb so wasn't too worried.

6km - 3:36; 7km - 3:32

Shortly after 5km there was a left turn in the road and were suddenly running south and head on into a strong wind which I hadn't even noticed previously. It was slightly uphill also but I don't think I would have even noticed had it not been windy. Splits now taking a battering and running solo, just had to hang in.

8km - 3:44

The road flatted off through this section though also widdened and straightened so the wind was even stronger. 33min was now gone.

9km - 3:37 10km - 3:39

Back into Bolsover Town hoping the wind would drop. I didn't so struggle in , in 6th place in 34:16.

A new pb anyway by nearly 3mins having not run one of these for getting on for 4 years. Windless this would be a good course.

slept:5.5 weight:65.3kg (rest day)

Big hangover morning - woke up at 5:30am and never got back to sleep either though did have a lie in with Grace while Amy went out shopping.

With Bolsover 10km I was planning on a short recovery run in the evening once I was feeling a little likelier but ended up staying at Mum's much longer than planned with family visiting. By the time we left at ~8pm my body was wanting sleep after the previous night's poor attempt.

Feeling a bit better. Work Xmas party so some time to forget life's stresses.

Note
(rest day)

Feeling totally knackered - tired/sleepy and achy. The last few day is the first time I've been hit with fatigue since the last bout of Lyme Disease. Will take it easy for a couple of days and hopefully that'll sort me out. Seam to have a constant illness and cold as well at the minute.

Note
(sick)

Feeling terrible. All achy, headache and stomach ache. Had the morning off work I was feeling so bad. Would have taken the whole day but had things to get done that would have stressed me had I not.
