NOC AGM 45min score at Annesley

Maps was a couple years old and the vegetation had clearly changed quite a bit in that time. There were also a number of controls not where they should have been. Through the first 15 in about 25 mins so looked to be plenty of time for the last block of 8. The next three were okish through young plantation forest with lots of bramble. Then the next was on a bush close to the top path and I ran round brambles for a good couple of minutes before spotting the control much further down the hill. I'm not sure whether the map was wrong (I think this was the case TBH) or it was on the wrong feature.

Sprinted for the next control on a pond then down the hill for a control on a veg boundary; it wasn't there. Ran around for a minute or so confirming I was in the correct place but no control. Continued as I was now very short on time 42min elapsed. Straight to the next but again the vegetation was mapped correct so going straight wasn't feasible and then realised I had ~1min so was a sprint for the finish. 10s over.

Had to then head straight off to get Grace to a birthday party so a tiny warm down.

But of a frustrating one. I wasn't orienteering well but I think that was partially due to lack of confidence in being about to accurately navigate using the map. Time lost was significant, with about 3 mins on a couple of tripods constructed in the wrong places - one not even in the circle. another couple of the tree and then another min on the veg boundary control I never found.

Still feeling quite flat after sickness bug too.

Little jog before lunch to see how things felt post sickness bug. Felt a bit drained still but was moving ok a slow speed.

Sickness Bug

Awoke about 1:10am and couldn't sleep; stomach became uncomfortable by 3am and was throwing up shortly after. Headed south during the morning. By the evening I had manged to eat very little. Obviously no work or training the only positive being it got me out of an afternoon meeting in central London.
