Slept fairly well for 12 hours- woke a few times but never for long. Pretty impressed by how reasonable my legs felt. Rain started about 5, and continued until 11ish, so first couple of controls were in cloud. Not moving as well as yesterday, and after about 2 hours were rather miffed to see how we were still with people we'd beaten convincingly the day before. But after that, got going again then felt like the homeward stretch, with one big climb then all downhill to Tollymore. Running on the tracks at the end was hard work, but we were still moving pretty well. Finished 5th on the day and so pulled up to 5th overall, 1st Ladies team by about 2hrs 20!

Mourne Mountain Marathon- B class Day 1

Started pretty well. Unfortunately marked a control a km out (mis-read grid ref) but luckily lost less than 10 mins, could have been a lot worse! Moving pretty well. Absolutely hideous climb up a gully- total 600m ascent in about 1km. Made the right choice on the cluster, luckily Megan saw the punch on a stake where the flag had blown off at one point, could have lost quite a bit of time there as was a fairly vague description. Slowed down a bit towards the end, but finished in 6th, and 1st ladies team by 1hr 20. As soon as we stopped, stiffened up quite a bit, but walked round the campsite and did a bit of stretching to try to limit the damage.
