Race Timing: EX2 BYB - Prince William
7 AM

Trail Run (Prince William NF) 1:03:06 [2] 5.24 mi (12:03 / mi) +99m 11:22 / mi
shoes: Salomom XT Wings 10

I needed to go into work again today, so I changed plans to get out of the house early and run before the race timing duties instead of after. This turned out to be a good choice since it was much more comfortable for me at 7:30 AM (45 F) then it would have been at noon time (70 F).

Wore shorts and a long sleeve shirt. Could have gone with short sleeve shirt and maybe gloves, but I would have only needed those for about 15 minutes.

Trails were in great shape, and I enjoyed having them mostly to myself.

Getting ready for the race timing duties was a bit rushed, but everything went well, and it was a beautiful day to be outside.

Then three hours at work in my mole hole (have to go out of two doors to see the sunshine). Have to do a bit more tomorrow early, and then the movers can take everything to the new digs.

I am feeling more positive about this move every day - partially because I don't like to be constantly miserable. So, while I do not like "change", I am willing to embrace it and move forward. And, well, it wasn't like I was being moved to some far off boon docks, just 3 miles away. So, get over it already! Yes, I think I will!

Biking 27:02 [2] 5.64 mi (4:48 / mi) +3m 4:47 / mi
shoes: Bike Sandals

Went into work for three hours this morning Instead of last night. After a rest and prepping race data for tomorrow, I rode down to my new office and looked in the windows (still dirty). It looks like they finished the floor in the main room.

Quicker ride today since I knew which way to go - just one minute of error. I am also getting stronger again. I like this ride a lot with my only trepidation being some of the more isolated sections. I'll have to see how bike traffic they get on weekday mornings.

Biking 38:58 [2] 6.99 mi (5:34 / mi) +49m 5:27 / mi
shoes: Bike Sandals

Ride home swinging through the park below the house and tackling the George Mason hill for a change.

Note

A rest day of sorts with lots of squats and bends to label the newly arranged inventory of 1850 boxes of records. I have been having bad dreams about searching and searching but never being able to locate anything ever again.

Right hip is painful once the advil wears off, and my lower back sore after overdoing it yesterday. Today, I concentrated on not lifting and having my assistant for the day do it instead. Hard to just stand there and point, but hopefully it helped.

They come and start packing the boxes onto trucks on monday, following dismanteling the shelves, and then the reverse in the new location. Should be done by Friday.

Anyway, I am going back to work a bit more tonight.
..then no work this weekend, and maybe no more bad dreams.

Misc (The DVD) 40:00 [2]

Well, my legs and shoulders are sore, so I decided today was the day for a core workout. That's mostly done lying on my back. How hard could that be? Hard! Well, not so bad that I had to stop the DVD, and I kept speculating whether I could stop before I end, but I got through it. Now, I am good for another six months. :)

Oh, yeah, much more box moving today at work. Shifting to make the shelves of boxes I have left more organized.

Note

Random stuff:

Roger was in Italy and happened on a City-O while in Rome and even took some photos.

Oh, and today is Roger and my 24th wedding anniversary. I just noticed the date. Roger and I are a pair, as in, we are both oblivious to these things.

Though , I did notice that he scheduled his next stone surgery for April 20, his birthday. Surely that will get noted by the pre-op people, and I can pretend I remembered myself.

The pantry moths are flying around the kitchen still.

I believe, based on PG's log, I have one week left to amend my 2006 taxes and claim the energy credit for the new, state of the art, central air conditioning installed.

Running/Walking (Treadmill) 40:00 intensity: (10:00 @1) + (20:00 @2) + (10:00 @3) 3.3 mi (12:07 / mi)
shoes: Asics Weebles

I am pretty sure that I had the exercise requirement covered with the box moving I did at work today (about 4 hours), but I felt like a little run. Go figure.

Though, I wasn't too keen on running outside in the 90+ temps, so the treadmill it was.

Warm up 5 minutes, then 2 minutes at 4.2, 4.4, 4.6...6.2, 6.0...5.4.

The 6.2 felt decent enough, but I wasn't interested in trying for 6.4 today.

Biking (Commute) 48:00 [1] 8.5 mi (5:39 / mi)
shoes: Bike Sandals

Stayed late at work to meet with the people who will be picking up 400 boxes in the morning for scanning, so I didn't leave work until 6:30 PM. Traffic is a little dicier at this hour vs. 4 PM. Had to dart and dodge a few times, but I didn't panic.

After working overtime today, I felt like I might "deserve" to go straight home (2.4 miles with no big uphill) vs. the longer way around (4 miles and THE Hill). It is always a challenge when I get to the decision point - go home or go longer. I decided I deserved to enjoy a bit more of this beautiful day (mid 80s again), and I went around. Then I threw a little extra loop on the end. And, the hill felt easier today - not pretty, but better.

Chopped up into:
ride in (2.4 miles)
round trip to central office (1.6 miles)
ride home (4.5 miles which includes an extra 1/2 mile loop)

My boss commented that I looked more relaxed and happy today, and she would be correct.
