Orienteering Competion race 1:23:37 [2] 5.49 km (15:14 / km) +141m 13:30 / km
spiked:4/8c (injured) shoes: VJ Supra
Long distance at the Dachsberg.
Ugly, stony, wet, ugly forest (can't understand whyI liked that one last year :( ) + I forgot to take my head to the start. Major fuck up to the first control, another one to the 3. control and from then on it was all along a steep hill with lots of stony stuff there - no running for me, just carefully fighting my way through the stones.
Knee started to hurt soon into the run and got worse and worse with every control along the hillside. Thought it would get better after 6 (when the hillside part was finished), but the uphill of course hurt too. Then even flat running on a nice path to 8 hurt, so I decided to better call it a day and give my knee some rest - don't want to seriously inflame it before the trip to Schottland.
I'm absolutely pissed about that, cause it's the first time in my adult years that I'm giving up a competition. Destroyed a perfect statistic there - and of course made it easier for the thought to creep up again next time when nothing goes according to plan . Still think that it was the right decision anyway...
Details:
To 1) Understood nothing at all about the paths on the map, and only started to really know where I was when I reached the stance. Maybe 4 min lost?
To 3) Came too far downhill from the beginning, was completely planless part of the way (should have ran along the path when I first crossed it, but didn't see it). Then searched for 4:30 in the circle :(
To 4) OK, more or less
To 5) OK, but ugly to run/walk/climb and no chance to stay on the same height
To 6) Didn't see the path under the line when I was hitting it and thought I'm already much higher. Which confused me for a bit, but not too long.
