Orienteering Competion 1:46:50 [4] 6.26 km (17:04 / km) +254m 14:11 / km
spiked:9/13c shoes: VJ Supra

Scottish 6 days, Day 6, Ardchattan
LL 4,8km, 175m climb

Tired legs from climbing to the viewpoint yesterday afternoon (or from running back down?). About 200m climb to the start - I was taking my time and enjoying the views on the way, but still my legs were already tired when I started.
Maybe the worst run of the week (or day 2?), made lots of unecessary mistakes resulting in lots of unecessary climb, trashed my bad knee a bit more on a stream crossing after 2 thirds of the course, then got super exhausted in the end and had to fight to at least keep on walking fast.
Details:
1) Came too far left and downhill, didn't understand it. Took me a good while to figure it out. 3-4 min?
2) Again came too far downhill, was confused at which marsh I really am. Figured it out a bit faster this time. 1:30
5) Spiked the control, even if it doesn't look like that on the track. The extra meters near there control where because that seemed to be the only way to climb the steep part for people with already week knees like me...
6) A little too far left and then much too clueless about it and going down far too far again. 5 min.
8) Can't explain why I did what I did, just completely misread and misunderstood everything - tired? 6 min. lost compared to the others
Rest was more or less spiked, but superslow due to tiredness and a hurting knee.
Total mistakes: 16:30

Orienteering Competion 1:22:05 [4] 5.4 km (15:12 / km) +155m 13:18 / km
spiked:9/15c shoes: VJ Supra

Scottish 6 days, Day 5, Loch Nell & Shenavallie
LL 4,3km, 170m climb

Nice map again, great views, mediocre run from me.
Details:
2) Went far too much left leaving 1, didn't realize it, got confused on the open part and lost some time until I figured out what happened. 3 min. at least
5) Ran too far and ended up at the path. Maybe should have stayed down and not running on the top. 1:30
8) Expected the control a bit later, but then was seeing it from afar. 15s
9) A bit too insecure near the control maybe.
14) A bit too far left in the circle first. 20s
15) Lost time when looking for a place to climb over the fence. 30s
Total mistakes: 5:35
8 PM

Note

In the evening I was climbing with my boyfriend up to a nice viewpoint. Then - as it was a bit late already and we had tickets for live music - we were running back down.

Orienteering Competion 1:36:58 [4] 5.64 km (17:12 / km) +251m 14:04 / km
spiked:13/15c shoes: VJ Supra

Scottish 6 days, Day 4, Torinturk
LL 4,9km, 250m climb

The day with the most climb. First a pile of short legs in a steep forest part, which was very hard physically for me. Then a long leg climbing from the bottom to the top of the big hill, where I lost any competetiveness and decided to just enjoy the views on the way, then a supernice second part of the course on runable open hills with great views and a bit of fast downhill-o in the end - enjoyed that second part very much.
Orienteering was allright, running was bad the first part and good the second part.
Details:
3) Lost direction a bit in the end, could have been straigher. 45s?
9) Came a bit too far left. 30s

(rest day)

Well earned rest day, and the day with the best weather of the week. I enjoyed most of it sitting or lying on the shore, watching the guys fish my dinner and read my book...

Orienteering Competion 1:12:15 [4] 5.26 km (13:44 / km) +172m 11:48 / km
spiked:9/12c shoes: VJ Supra

Scottish 6 days, Day 3, Creag mhic chailein
LL 4,5km, 170m climb

A good day of orienteering, felt in control most of the time and controls were appearing where I was expecting them - nice change from yesterday :)
Running was also better, but of course still really slow.
Details:
4) Lost some time because I was ending up too far down at the fence. 1:15 lost
5) Lost a bit of time in the circle. 45s
7) Stopped once for about 45s because I got a bit confused. Otherwise fine.
9) Spiked the control, but was so tired after the climb to 8 that I just moved very, very slow.

Note

And then in the afternoon a nice day took a turn for bad:
First our drivers weren't reachable by mobile to pick us up, so not knowing what happened I finally hitchhicked to the camping area - turned out that my boyfriend was falling into the water when trying to secure a catched fish and killed his mobile while doing that :(
Then it started to rain for the rest of the evening - not the usual drizzle, but real soaking rain, which is a pain in the ass if you try to cook on a campsite.
Low point of the day was when I turned my ankle badly while washing dishes in the soaking rain :( Don't ask how...
Thankfully while it hurt like hell at that moment and I could feel the injury for the rest of the week, it didn't really prevent me from running. And when finally sitting in a dry tent with a bottle of cider, a good fish to eat and nice company, the day started to look better again.

Orienteering Competion 1:40:27 [3] 5.18 km (19:24 / km) +209m 16:08 / km
spiked:8/14c

Scottish 6 days, Day 2, Ardnaskie
LL 4,0km, 185m climb

Had the first start time of the day, was in a hurry to the start and barely made it in time (2 min. after prestart). Somehow my orienteering mind got lost somewhere in the hurry to the start. Couldn't really match map and terrain in my head and made mistake after mistake in the beginning. Got a bit better after I understood that a marsh on white print wasn't a marsh in forest, then was followed by another big mistake in the light green in the end, where I found nearly every control nearby before I found mine.
Running wasn't good either - not that that would have made any difference today...

Details:
To 1) Was slow, but perfectly on track until shortly before the circle when I started getting confused by the mapping of the vegetation. Was moving superslowly from there on, understanding nothing and stumbling over my control by pure luck. 2:30 lost at least. Not a really good start...
To 2) Tried to forget about the bad start and orienteer very secure to the next control. As I still didn't understand any vegetation, that didn't really work out at all and I was changing theories were I am faster than I was moving. Finally found the right stretch of wood and the control, but surely not because of my superb orienteering ;) 3:45 lost
To 3) Finally a clear feature (the stream) leading to the control, so no problem at all finding the circle. Then managed to not recognize the exact location of the control and looking for it _ON_ the hill instead of next to it :( Another 1:30 lost
To 4) Finally a control that even I wasn't able to miss ;)
To 5) Could have gone a bit straighter maybe. 30s-1min?
6,7,8) OK
9) Lost some time compared to the others, can't really say why. Looking on the track it seems like I was superslow on the last part before the circle, can't remember why - insecure? At least 1 min. lost
10) And the final big mistake. Knew exactly where I was on top of the hill (at around 1:19:00) then came too far right, misread everything, came further right, found a control, had the wrong theory, came further right, etc... Finally realized were I am when I found a control at a boulder next to a hill and from there reached my control at around 1:32:00. Should have been not more than 1 or 2 minutes from the top of the hill, so at least 11 min. lost there :(
Rest from there was easy and unventful.
One of my worst runs in a while...

Orienteering Competion 1:07:41 [3] **** 4.67 km (14:30 / km) +210m 11:50 / km
spiked:10/13c shoes: VJ Supra

Scottish 6 days, Day 1, Dunollie and Dunstaffnage
LL 4,0km, 190m climb

First time for me in scottish terrain and the orienteering was not to hard for this first day, had an OK race. Running was something else - terrain looked very nice on the first glimpse, lots of open and yellow. But the light yellow was really rough open, either very uneven or very marshy - had lots of problems with running in this kind of terrain, I'm just not surefooted enough.
But super nice course and great views and enjoyed myself a lot :)))
Details:
1) Easy, spiked, but slow and careful
2,3) Spiked, but walked nearly all of it because of the terrain
4) Straight along the line, but very insecure in the circle, lost about 1 min. in the circle.
8) Didn't find the yellow parts between the dark green up the steep part and just fought through. When arriving at the top, finding the control was no problem. Lost about 1:30 min. to other runners up there
9) Went further around than planned, but found the control without problems. Lost about 45s there compared to others.
Rest was easy.
