Orienteering race 1:25:57 [5] 10.97 km (7:50 / km) +440m 6:32 / km
shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212

Oceania Long Distance Champs. Pissing with rain the whole time we were there. Had a good plan and started steady concentrating on getting used to the map and the 1:15,000 scale. Spiked 1 but was a bit lucky on 2. clean but careful through 3-4 and then put some pace on for the long leg to 5. good for 6 and 7 but started loosing concentration a bit, no plan on 8 which was a hard leg and lost maybe 2 mins. hesitated and wasn't confident at 9 an lost more time. took my lepin planned my long leg and refocused on the short leg to 10. nailed the long leg and after a mistake at 12 nailed the last loop. some definite mistakes in there but a good run and 8th place in very strong M20E grade.

Orienteering 36:55 [3] 4.72 km (7:49 / km) +189m 6:31 / km
shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212

Training day in AUS before the Oceania and Australia Champs Carnival. Training course was like a short middle distance, just cruised around at a steady pace and only made a few small errors one of which was just not looking behind the right rock. Feeling pretty good, felt way more confident in the terrain than I have done on previous AUS trips.

Stretching 19:00 [1]

Making sure my legs are all ok.

Note

Leaving tomorrow at 6:15am. Goals are:

Top 10 in the M20E events
Top 5 in the Schools Individual

These are obviously dependent on how everyone else does so I'm going to consider any of the races with less than 3 minutes of mistakes per hour as good runs. Physically I think I've had a pretty awesome build up until the last 2 weeks but should still be fast. Orienteering wise I may find it a bit challenging as I haven't done any technical races in a while.

Running 33:44 [2] 5.36 km (6:18 / km)
ahr:149 max:175 shoes: Asics GT-2160 (Black)

A long easy warm up followed by 5x100m stride outs. Legs felt alright except for my quads which are still suffering from Saturday. Throat also a bit sore but hoping thats because I didn't drink much and not my cold coming back. Last run before I head off to Aussie on Thursday!

Stretching 23:00 [1]

Mainly on the quads to try and loosen them up.

Note
(rest day)

Quads still pretty sore from Saturday. Feel like I'm over the cold now as I hasn't got worse having run on Saturday. Only 3 Days until Oceania's! getting pretty excited now.
