orienteering (Flinders Uni) 30:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Nimbus 21

After spending most of the day on housework, wanted some fresh air and sunlight before my folks came for dinner - so ran an old sprint course (actually would have been my long course for Sprint Adelaide 2019 until I found out that the knockout final was to have approx 10 min winning time) which was quite fun even though my legs were very stiff and I deliberately chose some non-optimal routes just to see what they were like - on my way to pick up parents.

running (Shepherds Hill) 36:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Nimbus 21

Short one, admiring the almond blossom, to see if my hamstring was ok (it's been protesting too much desk-sitting this week) before going to a dinner of ex-work colleagues, something I'd been a bit nervous about because these days, if we catch even just a common cold, we're still obliged by work to get tested and quarantine until a result is returned. Anyway, nobody seemed obviously sniffly so hopefully it's ok (although as we all know, asymptomatic doesn't mean non-infectious).

running (Belair night) 47:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Nimbus 21

Not-quite-redwoods run (because Zara suddenly remembered about book club).

running 39:40 [3]
shoes: Asics Kayano 24

Slow painful stagger over to Mitcham & back. Morning runs are rapidly becoming a thing of the past for me; strange to think I used to be able to do 17km before work/breakfast...

running intervals (North Adelaide) 6:00 [5]
shoes: Asics Nimbus 21

6 x 1 min on Montefiore Hill with the group. Grateful for not doing the whole hill as legs were still a bit lactic from Sunday.

running warm up/down (North Adelaide) 24:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Nimbus 21

To/from the hill, plus runthroughs.

orienteering race (Pewsey Vale) 1:30:36 [3] 6.0 km (15:06 / km) +250m 12:30 / km
shoes: Inov8 Oroc spikes

Not super enthused for orienteering today - Pewsey Vale's always an area where in the native scrub you can waste a minute or more just getting through the junk to the correct side of the boulder where the flag will be, and more recently when they felled & replanted the pines they didn't bother removing the windrows so it's almost impossible to follow up a row in a straight line, and I did far too much circle work for both reasons. So this course just seemed to go on & on, and zigzagged back across itself quite a bit (very hard to read the control circles & lines to work out which number I was going to next) and I spent a couple of minutes helping someone look - unsuccessfully - for his dropped SI card. But I was grateful for my personal inbuilt layer of insulation when the rain showers came through, and for no trees dropping branches on me when the wind gusts came through. Once I'd dried off and finally warmed up, Geoff & I drove the back way down Trial Hill Rd to lunch at Lyndoch bakery where we hadn't been for many years. So on balance this was a worthwhile outing?
