The sun did not shine. It was too wet to play.
So we sat in the house all that cold, cold, wet day.
(The Cat In The Hat, Dr Seuss)

After about the 7th storm front of the day - at 45-minute intervals - had passed through, the radar showed clear air for a few hours so I decided to see how Brownhill Creek looks at Mitcham, since we can't go far enough afield to check out any waterfalls :(
Definitely its current flow justifies the creekbed-rebuilding works by the library a couple of years ago!

running 1:25:00 [3]
shoes: Asics Nimbus 21

Should have run last night when it wasn't raining but got stuck at work until 7pm. Managed to escape in daylight tonight - just - but on a day when the official Adelaide forecast said "cold to very cold" (terminology which I don't think I've ever seen before on an Australian forecast) I was very glad to get home and make 20th-anniversary pizza with Geoff afterwards. We would have gone to the Pancake Kitchen as it's where we were introduced at Julie's birthday breakfast in 2001 but clearly that plan was gazumped by lockdown.

You've got to hand it to sleepy little old Adelaide - going from a positive case in an emergency department to full lockdown within 36 hours is unexpectedly efficient. I'm here to say that the 2.5km radius exercise limit is BS, even though I know I wouldn't be able to achieve its circumference within the 90-min cutoff.

Note

Should have gone for a run tonight while I still had freedom but instead consumed an entire packet of crisps and sulked about the impending cancellation of this weekend's rogaine - can't even spend the unexpected free time on course planning/vetting either :(

orienteering race (Rock Oyster OY) 1:44:41 [3] 9.1 km (11:30 / km) +295m 9:54 / km
shoes: Inov8 X-Talon bluegreen

Had entered the longest course today as rogaine training but was still awfully tired from a few poor nights' sleep - due to camping of course, but also I'd been stressing so much about not wanting to develop heart failure from the vaccine that I felt like I didn't sleep at all on Friday - so made hard work of a course which was fairly steep in parts and had quite a few short legs, some of them the same as last night's. Lachlan's longer legs meant that he was about 25 min faster than me; I felt very breathless too but at least I know that cardiomyopathy doesn't manifest that quickly!

Anyway, took Susanne & girls via Melba's chocolate factory on the way to visit parents and then Geoff & I had dinner at the airport hotel with SLEH who are flying out first thing in the morning - their holiday was foreshortened by the Darwin lockdown and border restrictions resulting from the Granites mine cluster so they got here a week late.
