Note

So that's the season over... managed to race nearly all the major champs (Mids, National XC, JK, British Long & British Middle) which is pretty much a first in one season. Performances weren't great but it's been a difficult year to date with a combo of home, work and injury. Some positive in there - and I currently have a 1'30sh lead on Alan V in the GC :)

Will rebuild through the summer, enjoy whatever competitions I feel like doing and possibly spend some of the summer at altitude ahead of a productive Autumn.

Fitness training 32:00 [3]

A decent recovery session on the XT: found it tough at first (thighs dead) but then got into a good rhythm (65-70 on L15).

Off-road running warm up/down 17:00 [2] 2.0 mi (8:30 / mi)
slept:7.5 shoes: Inov-8 Mudclaw 265

Before and after the Mids...

Orienteering race 38:11 [5] 5.0 km (7:38 / km) +145m 6:40 / km
shoes: Inov-8 Mudclaw 265

British Middles: given the past 3 weeks, this was a decent performance. Took on direct route to 1 and thrashed a bit; never got onto the map fully and found reading it a struggle. Lost time at 6 (min) and scrappy on others. Fully expected Logue to pass me and ended up close to the road for the crossing, losing more time. Thighs struggled and I was never fully confident. Biggest loss at 25 when went too low (another min). At that point, Logue did pass me and I tracked him down to 26 and out onto the field. Shocked to have placed 2nd at that point and then finish 6th. Lots of mis-punching but pleased with outcome given injury, lack of training, dad, work and even last week's sickness.

Another long day at work and felt battered...

slept:7.5 (rest day)

Better night's sleep and then travelled down to Harlow... complete shock to find dad awake and chatting to mum. Still groggy and needing to stay on ICU, but such a relief.
