Event: City to Surf
 
9 AM

Cruisy jog along with hilarity, who wasn't having a particularly comfortable day. One of her friends tried to hug-crush her to death at the start - I can't imagine that helped.

Saw the aftermath of a couple of nasty falls, including two first-aiders bolting through the pack of joggers while weighed down with kit to get to a cyclist who had somehow crashed at the Oceanic/West Coast Highway intersection. Another girl was down in the middle of the road just near the top of the hill on Oceanic in lots of pain - no bones sticking out through the skin and plenty of helpers, so continued on.

No mimosas at the T. When I complained, they told me I had taken too long and they had all been drunk.

Made up for it with a pint of beer at Clancy's after the run. But even with that time-wasting ploy in place, it still took nearly 2 hours to make it home after deciding to leave the beach.

Might do the half next year, or alternatively run in costume. Or, y'know, got to MTBO...

Apparently you can also have podiatry dates. Bring a friend and all of your shoes... sounds like a party to me!

Oh so long between swims. Ended up with a lane to myself as the peeps I had been swimming with are now in the "fish" lane and I was too late to join lane 2.

Nice to be back in the water, but balance was weird again and stroke felt very short.

Strengthen hips and knees, stretch and stretch and stretch and roller of woe with only a few muffled curses.

Might be loose enough after rollering tomorrow night to have a crack at the proper core exercises again.

Steady trot with hilarity - our last run before City to Surf.

Hilarity had a woozy moment and the regular bridge crossing at Windan was fenced off for some reason.

Over the last couple of hundred metres I chased a bunny very, very hard and caught her. So much for a slow run, but very enjoyable to stretch out and keep pushing after I wanted to stop.
