Running race 2:35:55 [3] 42.2 km (3:42 / km)
Oslo Marathon + NM marathon. My longest run ever. Started determined to not go too hard and watching pulse. Lying 50m behind a pack of 10 fighting for 3rd and worked a bit hard to get up to them at about 4k. Stuck in with them - 3 broke away around 13k but the others going fast enough. Through half marathon in 75', bang on target. Sore quads but otherwise ok. Did a tiny bit of work at front of pack out to 4k mark, slowing to 3:40ks now. Made it round to last 6-7 k holding on to the remaining pack, then legs giving up. Pulse sank and speed down to 4m/k. Held this to the finish and a 10th place (8th in NM). My second best NM result (after my one hill NM but ahead of all orienteering results including relay!) Have I been doing the wrong sports???
All in all the day went quite well. Have been looking forwards to a new challenge more fitting to my training (road HFW). Now I long for the forests and hills... A tough day - but not as tough as NM Ultra-long.
