Snowshoeing race (Ski-O) 1:11:00 [4] 3.4 km (20:53 / km)
My fate was decided today when I left my ski boots home, but had my snowshoes in the car. I borrowed some slightly small Timberland boots from Linda Kohn and did the Yellow course in snoeshows. The warm temperatures and quickly melting snow and ice made for difficult conditions for the skiiers. Some areas were ankle deep slush, some too treacherously icy to ski on.
I had a great time on my snowshoes, and only fell once. Linda's boots were fairly good at keeping my feet dry. I lost a little time when I decided to cut through the woods to the trail, only to find myself tangled up in brush and had to backtrack anyway. Then I mistakenly went to the GO control instead of #8, a "pond" between the two making for a wet trip in both directions.
I had a great day...lots of sunshine...and a wonderful workout. 71 minutes. I came in first in a small field of competitors.
