Running 1:06:03 [3] 7.6 mi (8:41 / mi)
shoes: PureFlow3 - DayGlo

Sabine from Chris's. Chilly, breezy morning. Never truly uncomfortably cold, but enough to make you keep moving. Went by pretty quickly & everything felt pretty decent in the process. Saturday bridge walking cut into what was an honest pace otherwise.

Friday Feb 27, 2015 #

Running 45:24 [3] 5.9 mi (7:42 / mi)
shoes: PureFlow3 - DayGlo

Hermann-Rice short. While not the best run of all time (got a little tired over the last couple miles), it was light years better than Wednesday's hot mess.

Thursday Feb 26, 2015 #

Note
(rest day)

Well, the mystery of yesterday's run is probably solved as the stomach bug hit full force last night. Not a great night. Hopefully this is a short-lived thing.

Wednesday Feb 25, 2015 #

Running 48:22 [3] 5.8 mi (8:20 / mi)
shoes: PureFlow3 - DayGlo

Hermann-Rice short. One of the oddest runs ever. The first half was bizarre, as I felt as if I had forgotten how to run. The legs just felt not there at all. Whatever the opposite of fluid is, that's how they felt. Maybe it was the odd time of day (4:00 p.m.) or the aftereffects of Monday's session with Gale, or the nagging stomach bug I seem to be fighting. Just off in a major way. Last 3 miles were better (although not exactly smooth). At least the calf wasn't a bother...

Tuesday Feb 24, 2015 #

Note
(rest day)

Scheduled zero after a really, really painful session with Gale. But stuff feels much better today.

Monday Feb 23, 2015 #

Running 35:25 [3] 4.5 mi (7:52 / mi)
shoes: Altra Olympus

Hermann. Broke out the moon boots for this one. Very chilly - big swing from yesterday's warmth. Everything felt more or less OK. Session with Gale after work today & then a zero tomorrow. Hopefully things will resolve enough to get back at it in a proper way.

Sunday Feb 22, 2015 #

Running 51:39 [3] 5.2 mi (9:56 / mi)
shoes: PureFlow3 - DayGlo

Hermann + Braes. Same as yesterday but with a good bit more running. The knee ached early, but disappeared once I warmed up, which tells me it's probably nagging tendonitis. The walk breaks became more welcome toward the end because it was really warm out there.

Saturday Feb 21, 2015 #

Running 1:00:08 [3] 5.2 mi (11:34 / mi)
shoes: PureFlow3 - DayGlo

Hermann + Braes. A walk/run combo in soupy weather. Probably 3 miles of it was comprised of short stints of running. While still an issue, the upper calf was noticeably improved. The knee was also a little better, even if it's still somewhat balky. Will try a repeat tomorrow. Just being on my feet for an hour really helps the headspace.

Thursday Feb 19, 2015 #

Note
(rest day)

Until the left calf / glute quiet down, it's counterproductive to run on it. Hopefully today's session with Gale will get me going in the right direction.

Wednesday Feb 18, 2015 #

Running 46:56 [3] 5.9 mi (7:57 / mi)
shoes: PureFlow3 Blue

Hermann-Rice short. Pretty much sub-par all around. The ankle was fine, but the whole left-leg complex, from the calf up to the low back was a mess. Time for a session with Gale... Nice morning otherwise.

Tuesday Feb 17, 2015 #

Running 29:12 [3] 3.7 mi (7:53 / mi)
shoes: PureFlow3 - DayGlo

Hermann short. Test of the ankle on a very chilly morning. A-OK. Back at it in earnest tomorrow.

Saturday Feb 14, 2015 #

Running 1:19:02 [3] 7.0 mi (11:17 / mi)
shoes: Altra Olympus

Saturday trails with TREX. For lack of anything better, Chris and I decided to run with the group. Nice morning. Until I folded the right ankle (which made a very bad sound). Immediate aftermath doesn't seem too bad, so there's guarded optimism. Day to day.

Friday Feb 13, 2015 #

Note
(rest day)

Some significant upper calf / back of knee tightness after yesterday's run that lingered throughout the day. No reason to make it worse. Just feeling a bit beat up right now...

Thursday Feb 12, 2015 #

Running 45:50 [3] 5.9 mi (7:46 / mi)
shoes: PureFlow3 - DayGlo

Hermann-Rice short. After everything checked out ok yesterday, it was time to get back at it in earnest. Knee was fine, but the upper calf was tight (need to mash on it a bit). Nice, crisp morning.

Wednesday Feb 11, 2015 #

Running 30:45 [3] 3.7 mi (8:19 / mi)
shoes: PureFlow3 Blue

Hermann short. Wanted to get out and test the knee. Fortunately, other than a bit of ache for the first minute or so, it seemed solid. Dealt with a really sore, tight low back (which kept me up a lot last night), so things were far from fluid. But, definitely better than nothing. Day to day...

Tuesday Feb 10, 2015 #

Note
(rest day)

While the knee wasn't much of an issue while getting around yesterday, given that it literally stopped me from running on Sunday, another day off is probably wise before I test it.

Monday Feb 9, 2015 #

Note
(rest day)

Zero day. While I would normally take today off, a sore knee and a very tight low back (ah, the joys of aging) make this one mandatory.

Sunday Feb 8, 2015 #

Running 36:12 [3] 2.8 mi (12:56 / mi)
shoes: PureFlow3 Blue

Ho with Chris. The left knee was talking to me for much of the day, so I had a feeling that this late-afternoon jaunt around the trails might not work out. And it didn't. Not sure what's going on in there. Rest tomorrow & day-to-day after that.

Saturday Feb 7, 2015 #

Running 54:31 [3] 6.5 mi (8:23 / mi)
shoes: Brooks PureFlow3

Hermann-Rice long. No true "Saturday run" today. Started around 9:00 on a lovely, short-sleeve morning. Relaxed pace, which was just as well - felt somewhat sluggish.

Friday Feb 6, 2015 #

Running 44:38 [3] 5.9 mi (7:34 / mi)
shoes: PureFlow3 Blue

Hermann-Rice short. Despite a pretty chippy time, this one never felt especially fluid. A bit of a fight the whole way.

Thursday Feb 5, 2015 #

Running 51:45 [3] 6.5 mi (7:58 / mi)
shoes: PureFlow3 Blue

Hermann-Rice long. Left calf still fairly tight, especially post run. Just going to have to baby it for a while. The run itself was fine. Good energy, relaxed pace.

Wednesday Feb 4, 2015 #

Note
(rest day)

Cold, rainy morning + a very tight left calf = day off.

Tuesday Feb 3, 2015 #

Running 45:49 [3] 5.9 mi (7:46 / mi)
shoes: PureFlow3 Blue

Hermann-Rice short. After a 3-day layoff around working the RR aid station, things started out predictably sluggish on a chilly, damp morning. Once things loosened up though, it was a solid effort.
