Running 1:08:35 [3] 8.1 mi (8:28 / mi)
weight:168lbs shoes: Adizero Aegis

Hermann-Rice long plus and BB long loop. The streak of stellar runs continues. After crummy work travel, I had to run a bit later than usual, and on a pretty empty stomach. Idea was to keep the effort easy, which it was, but the splits and overall time turned out a good bit faster than it felt. Fine by me.

Running 48:26 [4] 6.2 mi (7:49 / mi)
shoes: Adizero Aegis

Hermann-Rice long. Went to bed last night with the idea of shooting for a sub-50:00 on this route, something I hadn't done since I began logging my runs a couple years ago. Had a good idea of where my splits needed to be on various parts of the route. Hit the 1.5 mile mark in 12:30, at which point I was fully warmed up and ready to push a bit harder the rest of the way. Came in under every other split and finished in good shape. Felt really, really good.

Running 1:15:50 [3] 9.0 mi (8:26 / mi)
shoes: Adizero Aegis

Hermann-Rice long with Village and BB loops plus. What to say? Technically, the difference between a heat index of 90 and 57 is 33 degrees. Practically, it's like participating in a different sport. Splendid run. One where I actually just wanted to keep running. Strong, steady, smooth.

Monday Sep 27, 2010 #

Running 1:13:37 [3] 8.6 mi (8:34 / mi)
shoes: Adizero Aegis

Hermann-Rice long with Village and BB plus loops. This morning, it was . . . [sorry, I'm tearing up a little] . . . it was COOL. And the cool was GOOD. And I ran with a lightness not felt for many moons. Praise be whatever diety or meterological alignment was responsibile for this blessed event.

Running 2:12:42 [3] 14.0 mi (9:29 / mi)
shoes: Adizero Aegis

Saturday long run with Chris. From park to double Sabine loop and back. Pretty crappy run. Legs had nothing. Felt okay for the first few miles, then began to have trouble keeping up with Chris, who wasn't running that fast. Couldn't make them turn over. By the last mile or two, it was a struggle to keep them moving at all. Weirdness. Hopefully a day off will do the trick.

Friday Sep 24, 2010 #

Running 57:20 [3] 6.6 mi (8:41 / mi)
shoes: Adizero Aegis

Hermann-Rice long plus. Hopefully one of the last of the truly nasty hot and humid mornings - forecast calls for cooler, drier weather in a couple of days. Other than a little minor pain, the ankle was fine. Legs felt strong. Good base run.

Thursday Sep 23, 2010 #

Note
(injured)

Took a zero day to let the ankle heal a bit more. Still some soreness, but no swelling. Should be fine.

Wednesday Sep 22, 2010 #

Running 48:21 [3] 5.5 mi (8:47 / mi)
shoes: Adizero Aegis

Hermann-Rice short. Had to make it quick this morning. Worked in some speed play through most of the run, which was going very nicely until I landed on a stupid nubby root along the Rice path and twisted by left ankle. Time would have been faster, but I was forced to hobble the last mile or so home. Will take it day to day.

Tuesday Sep 21, 2010 #

Running 1:10:13 [3] 8.1 mi (8:40 / mi)
weight:170lbs shoes: Adizero Aegis

Hermann-Rice long with Village and BB loop. Legs felt good after a couple days' rest. Mild, rainy weather didn't hurt either. Had to detour a bit at the end because part of my Braes Bayou trail is gone, sacrificed to the widening / beautification project. In the long term, definitely a good thing. Kinda sucks right now though.

Monday Sep 20, 2010 #

Note
(rest day)

Decided to take an extra day off. Legs still a little dead & they could use a bit more rest. Staying injury free is the #1 concern.

Sunday Sep 19, 2010 #

Note

Much-needed off day. Legs are tired. Hell, everything is tired.

Saturday Sep 18, 2010 #

Running 5:16:35 [3] 26.2 mi (12:05 / mi)
shoes: Adizero Aegis

Long trails at Huntsville SP with Chris. Hot and humid, but we managed the heat really well for the most part. Mixed in regular walk breaks, but the pace stayed solid overall. Need to get one more long one in before my pre-Palo Duro taper.

Friday Sep 17, 2010 #

Walking 47:54 [3] 3.25 mi (14:44 / mi)
shoes: Asics Hyperspeed

Friday walk through Hermann Park.

Thursday Sep 16, 2010 #

Running 1:04:56 [3] 6.0 mi (10:49 / mi)
shoes: Adizero Aegis

After-work trails with Chris. First two miles were fine, then everything fell apart. My big burger from lunch was omnipresent. Ick. Oh well, got the miles in...

Wednesday Sep 15, 2010 #

Running 1:14:14 [3] 8.5 mi (8:44 / mi)
shoes: Adizero Aegis

Hermann-Rice long with Village and BB loops. Almost the identical time as Monday's run on the same route. All similarities end there. Exponentially higher perceived effort this morning. And, come on, it's the middle of friggin September - can we get just one morning that doesn't feel like the middle of July?

Tuesday Sep 14, 2010 #

Running 1:05:10 [3] 7.6 mi (8:34 / mi)
shoes: Adizero Aegis

Hermann-Rice long with BB loop. Excellent first 2/3s, more of a struggle the last couple of miles. Still, a good overall run.

Monday Sep 13, 2010 #

Running 1:14:13 [3] 8.5 mi (8:44 / mi)
shoes: Adizero Aegis

Hermann-Rice long w/ Village and BB long loop. Very good run. Strong and steady throughout. Wish it was this easy every day.

Saturday Sep 11, 2010 #

Running 2:05:00 [3] 12.5 mi (10:00 / mi)
shoes: Adizero Aegis

Saturday trails. Very hot - not really feeling it today.

Thursday Sep 9, 2010 #

Running 55:04 [3] 6.2 mi (8:53 / mi)
shoes: Adizero Aegis

Hermann-Rice long. Because the kiddo had to be at x-country at 7:00, I had a limited window in which to run. Took it slow and steady. Nothing really memorable about this one. Hot, humid, nasty as usual. I will say that there aren't that many people out at 4:30 in the morning. Very, very quiet.

Wednesday Sep 8, 2010 #

Running 44:29 [3] 5.5 mi (8:05 / mi)
shoes: Adizero Aegis

Hermann-Rice short. Had to make it quick this morning. Mixed in some speed play to keep the pace honest. Legs a little lethargic, but managed a decent pace overall.

Tuesday Sep 7, 2010 #

Note
(injured)

Turned left ankle late in yesterday's run. Going to give it a day off as it's still a little tender.

Monday Sep 6, 2010 #

Running 1:35:00 [3] 8.5 mi (11:11 / mi)
shoes: Adizero Aegis

Labor Day trails with TREX. Slow and easy start, but a crazy last couple of miles trying to keep up with Pb-ville finisher Jerry H on Green back in. He put the pedal to the metal, we completely dropped the rest of the group in the blink of an eye, and I managed to hang on for dear life. Fun to actually r-u-n back there.

Sunday Sep 5, 2010 #

Note
(rest day)

Saturday Sep 4, 2010 #

Running 2:54:00 [3] 18.7 mi (9:18 / mi)
shoes: Adizero Aegis

Saturday long run with Chris. Park, Sabine, Downtown, all of it. Started out feeling a little ragged and certainly finished that way, but the middle 14 or so miles weren't bad.

Friday Sep 3, 2010 #

Walking 42:30 [3] 3.0 mi (14:10 / mi)
shoes: Asics Hyperspeed

Friday walk on the trails. Overcast, almost pleasant day for a walk.

Thursday Sep 2, 2010 #

Running 47:45 [3] 5.5 mi (8:41 / mi)
shoes: Adizero Aegis

Hermann-Rice short. Had a narrow window to squeeze in this morning's run, so kept it short. Still kinda sucked. Legs are tired. Actually, everything's tired. Very happy the tomorrow is an active rest day.

Wednesday Sep 1, 2010 #

Running 1:07:14 [3] 7.25 mi (9:16 / mi)
shoes: Adizero Aegis

Hermann-Rice long with Braes Bayou loop. Some days everything just feels right. This wasn't one of those days. Low energy and an unsettled stomach that led to sporadic walks. Managed not to give in to the urge to cut it short - that's something I suppose.
