Hermann-Rice long GW. There are days where everything clicks and the miles slip by quickly. And there are days like today. Days that suck beyond measure. Not sure what it was. The weather? Meh. Cloudy - 80-ish, 100% humidity. I've certainly seen worse. Was it eating too close to the run? That may have had something to do with it. Lack of motivation? Probably. Whatever it was, it lead to a brutal little sufferfest.

Evening run at Terry Hershey. Took advantage of a lot of time to kill on the west side while Rebecca played softball. Nothing felt particularly good on the route (about 2.5 miles of asphalt and 4 of trails) - not really my prime time of day to run + it was pretty hot. Still, a nice change of pace from the typical weekday grind.

Terry Hershey park with Chris and Thomas (and Cees for part of the run). While it wasn't all that warm this morning, the humidity was turned up to 11, so the run was an interesting mix of never quite overheating but also sweating like a mother. The pace was a bit to fresh when we hit the trails and I really wore down by the end. Still, it was a solid morning with good company.

Mid-morning trails - Endless/Green out/Green back. Last-minute decision to take the day off. The trails were as messed up as ever - hadn't been there in some time - but for a short run it was a nice change of pace. Definitely running faster than I was a year ago. Hit the gate at Crestwood in 27:00 flat and really wasn't pushing the pace at all.

Hermann-Rice short GW. Back at it in the midst of a crazy period at work. Suffering major PMS (Pace Mismanagement Syndrome) this morning. Hit my 1.5 mile mark way too fast & had problems pulling back sufficiently after that. Result was a not-very-smooth run, but a plus effort.

Huntsville SP w/ Chris. The first real taste of that wonderful season in Houston: Not Summer. About 60 at the start of the run - makes such a huge difference. Felt pretty solid most of the way. Dragging a little by the end, but not in a bad way. Super morning overall.

Hermann-Rice short GW. The pattern of late has been dead legs early and a bit more life late. Held true this morning. Legs felt really flat for most of the first 3 miles. The difference was that everything else felt excellent. Breathing/cardio were super solid, which allowed me to push the pace a bit even with flat legs. Once the legs started to come around, everything fell into place for a good run. Pushed the pace to 7:30-ish for the last mile & still had more in the tank.

Hermann to Allen Parkway to Montrose. Overreached a little on this one. Poor night's sleep + horrendous humidity and heat this morning led to a pretty awesome bonk before the 11-mile mark. The rest of the jaunt was just about managing the heat which meant frequent, short walk breaks interspersed with some slow running. Got it done though, which I honestly didn't think would happen. Needless to say, feel utterly spent now.... Nap time!
