Toe. Feels better just walking around, but I'm going to give it another day before testing it. Bleh.

Thursday Nov 22, 2012 #

Wednesday Nov 21, 2012 #

Running 37:33 [3] 4.7 mi (7:59 / mi)
shoes: Pure Connect - Electric Blue

Hermann loop w/ reflect. After-work short run. Legs really came around on this one for the first time in quite a while. Going to take a rest day tomorrow and consolidate the gains of the last few days, then back at it on Wed.

Sunday Nov 18, 2012 #

Running 47:35 [3] 5.9 mi (8:04 / mi)
shoes: Pure Connect - Electric Blue

Hermann-Rice short. Mid-morning run - lovely, mild weather. Maybe some signs of turning a corner. The mile around Rice were notable for something approaching lively legs. Didn't last, of course. But I'll take it.

Running 1:30:24 [3] 9.5 mi (9:31 / mi)
shoes: Pure Connect - Electric Blue

Saturday morning at Terry Hershey w/ Chris. Lovely, chilly morning. Cool weather makes the Terry Hershey trails pretty pleasant running. Legs felt okay for a bit but really died over the last 30 minutes. Baby steps.

Running 35:48 [3] 4.4 mi (8:08 / mi)
shoes: Pure Connect - Electric Blue

Hermann loop. Legs felt pretty decent, but absolutely no fluidity to my running right now. Feet hurt like mothers, but a lot of that probably has to do with the first run in a new pair of Pure Connects.

Wednesday Nov 14, 2012 #

Running 35:23 [3] 4.4 mi (8:03 / mi)
shoes: Pure Connect-DayGlo

Hermann loop. While I wouldn't say the legs were spry, things were much, much better than yesterday. Just need to stay after it for awhile and everything should come back around.

Tuesday Nov 13, 2012 #

Running 36:09 [3] 4.4 mi (8:13 / mi)
shoes: Pure Connect-DayGlo

Hermann loop. Snuck out for a lunchtime run. Lovely weather, but completely dead legs. The only reasonable explanation is that the heavy hiking load around the Guads took more out of them than I thought. Going to keep things short and hopefully consistent for the rest of the week until they come back around.

Sunday Nov 11, 2012 #

Note
(rest day)

Woke up with a VERY tight left calf. No bueno. Stretching and stick. Will give it a go tomorrow.

Saturday Nov 10, 2012 #

Running 48:09 [3] 5.9 mi (8:10 / mi)
shoes: Pure Connect-DayGlo

Hermann-Rice short GW. Finally managed to get out for a run. Didn't feel too bad - legs felt good, although the left foot was unsurprisingly sore after the layoff. This route is a .2 longer now that the Coats Bridge and MacGregor tunnel are open - nice to cut out a couple of pain in the ass street crossings.

Hiking 1:40:00 [3] 4.6 mi (21:44 / mi) +450ft 19:54 / mi
shoes: Brooks Pure Grit

GMNP - McKittrick Trail to Pratt Cabin and back. Nice final-day stretch of the legs before heading home. Lucked out when we arrived to find the very cool Pratt Cabin open - rare on a weekday.

Sunday Nov 4, 2012 #

Hiking 7:05:00 [3] 15.0 mi (28:20 / mi) +2800ft 24:05 / mi
shoes: Brooks Pure Grit

GMNP - Bush Mountain / Blue Ridge / Tejas loop from Dog Canyon. Wow - great day out in the park. Wildlife, fantastic weather, a soul-sucking climb, and ZERO human beings - couldn't ask for much more.

Saturday Nov 3, 2012 #

Hiking 3:14:00 [3] 8.0 mi (24:15 / mi) +2000ft 19:36 / mi
shoes: Brooks Pure Grit

GMNP - Dog Canyon to Tejas to McKittrick intersection and back. A rocky grinder up Tejas, with noisy Boy Scouts to boot, but good stuff nonetheless.

Friday Nov 2, 2012 #

Hiking 3:14:00 [3] 8.2 mi (23:39 / mi) +3150ft 17:21 / mi
shoes: Brooks Pure Grit

GMNP - Pine Springs to Guadalupe Peak. A stout climb, but on fresh legs it wasn't as difficult as I imagined it would have been. Spectacular views from the summit.

Hiking 4:00:00 [3] 9.0 mi (26:40 / mi) +3000ft 20:16 / mi
shoes: Brooks Pure Grit

GMNP - Pine Springs to Bowl Trail via Tejas Trail and back via Bear Canyon and Frijole Trails. Very difficult ascent for me on Tejas. Warm, exposed, and pretty sustained, I was pretty worn down by the time I made it to the ridge and the Bowl Trail. After that, everything was fine, even the crazy, uber-technical 1000 ft / mile descent down Bear Canyon. Yeeeeow.

Thursday Nov 1, 2012 #

Hiking 1:45:00 [3] 4.8 mi (21:52 / mi) +550ft 19:44 / mi
shoes: Brooks Pure Grit

Guadalupe Mountains National Park - Pine Springs to Devil's Hall and back. Lovely fall color in a very cool canyon.
