Sunday Nov 30, 2014 #

Note
(rest day)

Pretty sore.

Saturday Nov 29, 2014 #

Running 4:47:24 [3] 25.0 mi (11:30 / mi)
shoes: Altra Lone Peak 2

HSP. While I could be disappointed in not quite making it to the planned 26, I choose to be quite happy that I actually managed 25. Soupy conditions meant pretty heavy sweating throughout. Met Larry and Tony D. 3.1 miles in and realized right away that their pace was just touch quicker than I wanted to run, but not so quick that I protested. Larry threw in 30 second walks every 5:30, which helped for a bit. By the time I finished the 16.2 mile loop, though, the engine was feeling cooked. The last 8.8 included a fair amount of walking, as I worked through some low spots. Still, these longer runs aren't meant to be easy.

Running 41:11 [3] 5.0 mi (8:14 / mi)
shoes: PureFlow3 Blue

Hermann + Braes. As this minor cold begins to settle in the chest, wasn't sure how things would feel this morning. Chose the short route just in case, although I felt pretty solid.

Wednesday Nov 26, 2014 #

Running 58:05 [3] 7.0 mi (8:18 / mi)
shoes: PureFlow3 Blue

Hermann-Rice long + Braes. Slept much better last night & got a slightly later start, which meant none of this one was in the dark. Kinda nice. Felt solid throughout.

Tuesday Nov 25, 2014 #

Running 53:25 [3] 6.5 mi (8:13 / mi)
shoes: Brooks PureFlow3

Hermann-Rice long. Another shitty night's sleep due to a low-level upper respiratory thing has left me really tired as I enter this. The run itself, however, wasn't too bad.

Monday Nov 24, 2014 #

Running 47:12 [3] 5.9 mi (8:00 / mi)
shoes: PureFlow3 Blue

Hermann-Rice short. Crap night's sleep & woke with a slight sore throat, so I had no idea what to expect from this one. But all was good.

Saturday Nov 22, 2014 #

Running 1:28:35 [3] 9.7 mi (9:08 / mi)
shoes: PureFlow3 Blue

Memorial Park / Buffalo Bayou Park. Not a ton of motivation made for a lethargic start, but once everything loosened up, things fell into a solid groove.

Friday Nov 21, 2014 #

Running 47:19 [3] 5.9 mi (8:01 / mi)
shoes: PureFlow3 Blue

Hermann-Rice short. This one started a little disjointed. Raining lightly & I toyed with the idea of cutting it short, but then realized I was being a pussy. Once I figured that out, things fell into place and everything was good.

Thursday Nov 20, 2014 #

Running 53:00 [3] 6.4 mi (8:17 / mi)
shoes: Brooks PureFlow3

Hermann-Rice long. Each day the legs have felt a little bit better. Pretty solid overall today. Not super fluid, but not at all dead legged. Need to keep an eye on some minor post-run soreness in the left arch.

Wednesday Nov 19, 2014 #

Running 47:47 [3] 5.8 mi (8:14 / mi)
shoes: Brooks PureFlow3

Hermann-Rice short. Engine felt strong, but the legs were a touch flat. Never really felt especially fluid. But by no means a bad run.

Tuesday Nov 18, 2014 #

Running 54:36 [3] 6.5 mi (8:24 / mi)
shoes: Brooks PureFlow3

Hermann-Rice long. Cold but only a slight breeze. Legs felt much better and I managed to drag my ass around the longer track. An unhappy stomach over the last 1.5 slowed things a bit, but not a terrible run overall.

Monday Nov 17, 2014 #

Running 25:44 [3] 3.0 mi (8:35 / mi)
shoes: Brooks PureFlow3

Hermann short. A short shake out to see where the legs are at. Predictably very flat, but not especially sore. Accuweather had the wind chill at 22. Didn't believe it. Until I got smacked by a biting headwind early on. Remarkable cold for this early in the year.

Saturday Nov 15, 2014 #

Running 4:03:57 [3] 22.5 mi (10:51 / mi)
shoes: Altra Lone Peak 2

HSP. If I'm going to do Bandera, gotta run long. This was the first of 4 planned long runs: low 20s, mid 20's, low 30s, mid 30s. Ideal weather - 41 and overcast at the start, 47 and overcast at the end. Energy was a little up and down, and the legs felt really tired by the last few miles, but a good effort overall.

Thursday Nov 13, 2014 #

Running 47:15 [3] 5.8 mi (8:09 / mi)
shoes: Brooks PureFlow3

Hermann-Rice short. For mid-November, it was really cold this morning. Wind chill well below freezing. The cold was energizing but the stride didn't feel very fluid until the last couple of miles. Nevertheless, another good run in a (knock on wood) relatively long streak of good runs.

Wednesday Nov 12, 2014 #

Running 51:49 [3] 6.4 mi (8:06 / mi)
shoes: Brooks PureFlow3

Hermann-Rice long. Chilliest morning since last winter. Everything felt super solid. Nice run.

Tuesday Nov 11, 2014 #

Running 36:00 [3] 4.5 mi (8:00 / mi)
shoes: Brooks PureFlow3

Hermann. Last truly mild (and shirtless) day for awhile. Legs felt fine by the halfway point.

Monday Nov 10, 2014 #

Running 47:10 [3] 5.9 mi (8:00 / mi)
shoes: Brooks PureFlow3

Hermann-Rice long. A touch chillier than I expected, but not in a bad way. Everything felt great - strong and fluid throughout. No complaints.

Saturday Nov 8, 2014 #

Running 59:59 [3] 7.1 mi (8:27 / mi)
shoes: Brooks PureFlow3

Hermann-Rice long + Braes. Really nice morning. Plenty of people out and about. Legs felt solid throughout.

Friday Nov 7, 2014 #

Note
(rest day)

Busy day - good day to take off.

Thursday Nov 6, 2014 #

Running 53:45 [3] 6.5 mi (8:16 / mi)
shoes: Brooks PureFlow3

Hermann-Rice long. This one started out in a cool, light rain. Didn't really have much motivation to push the pace, but it wasn't too languid either. Brick in the wall run.

Wednesday Nov 5, 2014 #

Running 46:01 [3] 5.9 mi (7:48 / mi)
shoes: Brooks PureFlow3

Hermann-Rice short. Legs felt zippy from the get go. Super solid effort, particularly in light of the soupy, not-at-all-cool conditions this morning.

Tuesday Nov 4, 2014 #

Running 47:15 [3] 5.9 mi (8:01 / mi)
shoes: Brooks PureFlow3

Hermann-Rice short. Once the everything opened up about mid-way through, it was a very solid run.

Monday Nov 3, 2014 #

Note
(rest day)

Giving the legs one more day of rest before getting back after it.

Saturday Nov 1, 2014 #

Running 2:38:42 [3] 15.5 mi (10:14 / mi)
shoes: Altra Olympus

Little Rocky 25K. Ideal weather - mid-40s at the start - made it an easy choice to actually push the pace a bit. Felt really solid throughout. Do enjoy this distance.
