Running 1:05:08 [3] 7.2 mi (9:03 / mi)
shoes: PureFlow4

Hermann-Rice long (zoo) + Braes. Really nasty conditions had me considering shortening the route, but I stuck with it and focused on managing the heat. The legs didn't feel bad, but the motor was at yellow line a lot of the time, so everything was kept super conservative in an effort to avoid heat exhaustion. June closes out with fairly low total mileage but pretty decent consistency, especially over the last half of the month.

Monday Jun 29, 2015 #

Running 56:39 [3] 6.6 mi (8:35 / mi)
shoes: PureFlow3 Blue

Hermann-Rice long (zoo). Typically nasty morning. Pace wasn't especially spry, but the energy was decent and I held it together through the entire run.

Sunday Jun 28, 2015 #

Walking 40:53 [3] 2.2 mi (18:35 / mi)
shoes: Altra Instinct 3.0

Hermann short.

Saturday Jun 27, 2015 #

Running 1:31:55 [3] 9.0 mi (10:13 / mi)
shoes: PureFlow4

Buffalo Bayou Park. A full loop and a second cutting off the portion between Jackson Hill and Shepherd. The first loop was solid, as was the first couple miles after that. By the time I hit Sabine again, the heat & effort were starting to grind me down. But that's to be expected. Walked a bit more after that & managed just fine. Wanted to have a 40-mile week before the month was done. Close enough.

Friday Jun 26, 2015 #

Running 35:08 [3] 4.4 mi (7:59 / mi)
shoes: PureFlow3 Blue

Hermann. Wanted to keep it short but with a slightly more honest pace than lately. After a couple of less-miserable weather mornings, the big suck was back.

Thursday Jun 25, 2015 #

Running 1:02:50 [3] 7.2 mi (8:44 / mi)
shoes: PureFlow4

Hermann-Rice long (zoo) + Braes. Stretched it out a bit at a pretty relaxed pace. Trying to get a bit more variation in the running week. Focused on staying cool-ish.

Wednesday Jun 24, 2015 #

Running 48:40 [3] 5.8 mi (8:23 / mi)
shoes: PureConnect3

Hermann-Rice short. Speed play for the first time in a while. Just a half dozen fartlek-y 3-speed progressions with a bit of slow running and walking in between. Obviously have no leg speed right now, but it was really nice to change it up. Also a few degrees less miserable this morning - made a difference.

Tuesday Jun 23, 2015 #

Running 56:18 [3] 6.6 mi (8:32 / mi)
shoes: PureFlow3 Blue

Hermann-Rice long (zoo). 5.5 of it was really pretty solid. Legs felt almost fluid (as if fluidity/ease of stride is just around the corner). Then the wheels pretty much came off over the last, brutally slow mile. Heat & humidity got to me. Actually left me feeling a bit sick afterwards. Progress, but just need to be able to close 'em out.

Monday Jun 22, 2015 #

Running 54:44 [3] 6.4 mi (8:33 / mi)
shoes: PureFlow4

Hermann-Rice long. Not completely terrible. Legs felt fairly good. Didn't really start to wear down until maybe the last half mile.

Sunday Jun 21, 2015 #

Walking 54:11 [3] 2.8 mi (19:21 / mi)
shoes: PureFlow3 Blue

Hermann. Mid-afternoon stretch of the legs. Hot & muggy (of course).

Saturday Jun 20, 2015 #

Running 1:04:25 [3] 6.2 mi (10:23 / mi)
shoes: PureFlow4

Sabine from Chris's / Jackson Hill. A shortened version of the regular BB Park loop. A pretty fair amount of walking mixed in. Less because it was necessary than because we were lazy, which was just fine with me. Got out, spent some time on the feet, sweat like a pig . . . all good.

Friday Jun 19, 2015 #

Running 48:18 [3] 5.8 mi (8:20 / mi)
shoes: PureFlow3 Blue

Hermann-Rice short. Woke up with a terrible upper-left-side back ache. Considered scrapping the run. Then decided to go short. Then, once I was out the door, chose to stick with the original plan. As nasty as yesterday, but I felt pretty decent until the last mile, when the heat started to wear the system down a bit.

Thursday Jun 18, 2015 #

Running 56:03 [3] 6.5 mi (8:37 / mi)
shoes: PureFlow4

Hermann-Rice long. Wow. Truly staggering humidity this morning. Not sure it's possible for the "air" to be any more saturated. Given the conditions and the quality of recent runs, this one was all about keeping things from redlining. So it was somewhat slow. But I felt much better overall than the last few days.

Wednesday Jun 17, 2015 #

Running 48:47 [3] 5.9 mi (8:16 / mi)
shoes: PureFlow3 Blue

Hermann-Rice short. Just a struggle right now. The motor isn't there. While I'm not hacking up crap any longer, the lungs still feel kind of taxed, which leads to an inability to get the legs turning over crisply. Gotta keep getting out the door & believing things will eventually turn around.

Tuesday Jun 16, 2015 #

Running 49:29 [3] 5.9 mi (8:23 / mi)
shoes: PureFlow4

Hermann-Rice short. Made it halfway before a band of decent rain from TS Bill moved through. The balance of the run was a soaker. Pretty lethargic overall. Didn't really have it this morning.

Sunday Jun 14, 2015 #

Running 59:09 [3] 6.7 mi (8:50 / mi)
shoes: PureFlow4

Hermann-Rice long (zoo). Benefitted from a thunderstorm's cooling effect. For about 10 minutes. Then the infernal sun was out in full sauna-inducing force. Took it very easy, with a number of short walks to keep things under control. Still felt a little cooked by the end.

Saturday Jun 13, 2015 #

Running 47:29 [3] 5.9 mi (8:03 / mi)
shoes: PureFlow3 Blue

Hermann-Rice short. Slightly less miserable conditions this morning. Overall, a much better run than recent efforts. Motor seemed to be operating near 100% again. Not much crud left in the lungs. Yay.

Friday Jun 12, 2015 #

Note
(rest day)

I was deeply, deeply tired last night, so sleeping in and taking a zero today seemed right. Back at it tomorrow.

Thursday Jun 11, 2015 #

Running 48:43 [3] 5.9 mi (8:15 / mi)
shoes: PureFlow4

Hermann-Rice short. Started about 30 minutes later than usual after dropping Rebecca off at Hobby. Felt marginally better than yesterday for the first 4 miles. Then it started to suck. If I was 85% yesterday, I'm 87.5% today. Just gotta keep at it.

Wednesday Jun 10, 2015 #

Running 49:20 [3] 5.9 mi (8:22 / mi)
shoes: PureFlow4

Hermann-Rice short. I'm maybe 85% right now. Certainly feel better, but there's definitely still some crap in the lungs, which leads to a little tightness and reduced capacity. A very warm morning didn't help. In any case, it was a struggle, but it got done. Just need to keep grinding.

Tuesday Jun 9, 2015 #

Running 37:32 [3] 4.5 mi (8:20 / mi)
shoes: PureFlow4

Hermann. The goal was to sleep ok and just make it out the door for something. Solid sleep. The run was work, as the lungs aren't really clear yet. Had to stop a couple of times to hack crap up. But I think running actually helps to clear the chest crap faster.

Monday Jun 8, 2015 #

Note
(sick)

Full-on crud. It's made it down to the chest, so at least it's in its final stage.

Sunday Jun 7, 2015 #

Walking 1:01:40 [3] 3.2 mi (19:16 / mi)
shoes: PureFlow4

Hermann short + Braes short. After a horrendous night's sleep thanks to a full-blown case of the crud, running was out. But, by late morning, felt up to a solid walk. Nasty hot (of course).

Saturday Jun 6, 2015 #

Running 38:08 [3] 4.5 mi (8:28 / mi)
shoes: PureFlow4

Hermann. Mid-morning. Coming down with a cold / sinus thing, which didn't help. Neither did the fact that it was hot as hell.

Wednesday Jun 3, 2015 #

Running 47:54 [3] 5.9 mi (8:07 / mi)
shoes: PureFlow3 - DayGlo

Hermann-Rice short. Felt pretty decent, save for a tight left groin muscle. Both pair of my last-generation PureFlows are also feeling kinda crushed out, so I suppose it's time to bite the bullet and get a new pair. Going to take a couple days off - groin issues can linger & I don't want to mess with it long term.

Tuesday Jun 2, 2015 #

Running 54:33 [3] 6.5 mi (8:24 / mi)
shoes: PureFlow3 Blue

Hermann-Rice long. Somewhat lethargic over the first half, but came around a little toward the end. Not horrendous conditions given that it's June.

Monday Jun 1, 2015 #

Running 48:07 [3] 5.9 mi (8:09 / mi)
shoes: PureFlow3 - DayGlo

Hermann-Rice short. Not great, not terrible. Fairly pleasant weather this morning helped.
