Hermann-Rice short. Noticeably more humid & touch warmer this morning. The better part of this one was quite excellent. Very relaxed and easy. Messed up the watch & had to start it again a little less than 1/2 way through. That early part of the run was at an average HR of 126, so I definitely could have pushed more. HR got a little spikey over the last 1.5, for whatever reason, so I slowed down a touch. Still, a very good run.

Hermann-Rice short + Braes. Super chill effort. Focused on staying relaxed and at / under MAF as much as possible. When the HR would creep up, I slowed down for a moment. Maybe the most consistent, relaxed MAF run yet.

Hermann + Braes. Real Feel was 66 yesterday and 83 this morning. Ugh. It was nice while it lasted (which usually isn't long this time of year). HR was generally about 5 beats over MAF during the last half. Was feeling just a little edgy this morning & that spilled over into the run, as I couldn't really settle into a relaxed groove. I just went with it though rather than slow down more. The Skoras are very interesting. Like a super high-tech version of the old NB 790s. Slippery fit, really light & flexible, but with a pretty protective outsole. I think they'll definitely have a place in the quiver, especially when I get back to some soft trails.

Hermann + Braes. The conditions were not quite as nasty as Monday morning - it would be hard for them to be worse. The first half found the HR consistently 3-5 beats over MAF, while the second half was mostly a few beats under MAF. Felt pretty good overall.

Hermann + Braes. Other than one out-of-the-blue HR spike at about the 3.5 mile mark, this one was solid. Just as nasty a morning as possible weather-wise. It's one thing in early August, but this crap gets harder to accept in September.

Hermann-Rice short. Took a few minutes to settle in, and the first couple of miles were around 5-7 beats over MAF, but eventually everything came around just fine. Super nasty muggy ass morning, so I don't feel bad about the overall pace. 100% better than yesterday from a consistency standpoint too.

Hermann-Rice short. WTF. Started out feeling very good & fell into MAF normally. Not quite a mile in, I got a bit lightheaded & the HR steadily zipped up about 30 friggin beats over MAF. Walked for a moment, then tried to run through it, but it wouldn't drop below the low-150s. So the next couple of miles were a mix of walking and jogging. When I'd hit 147 or so, I'd walk. But, oddly, by the back side of Rice, I was able to maintain about 10 beats over MAF without walking. Then by the park I was steadily in the 137-142 range at a good jog. Anxiety? No clue. Give the same route a try tomorrow. Moreover, with all the walking, I'm surprised this ended up sub-12. Weird stuff.

Hermann + Braes. Muggy conditions. Another run where the HR bopped over MAF really early. Slowed way down & even walked a bit. But then decided to fuck it and let it go wherever it was going to go. Of course, after that it quickly dropped back into MAF, where it stayed the rest of the run. Not sure what it's about, but it appears to be in my head... Whatever. Most of the run was perfectly fine, and the pace probably ticked up a bit as it went on.

Hotel treadmill. Not terribly accurate recounting of the time. Getting going on the treadmill was a sort of stop & go affair. It automatically picked up the HR monitor & displayed HR, but it jumped around a lot & interfered with the reading on the watch. After a few moments, I figured out how to turn that function off & the watch started working accurately. Then it took awhile to figure out the right speed for a MAF workout - once I did, it turned out to be an 11:30 pace on the treadmill. Not sure how accurate that was, but whatever. Better than nothing.
