Monday May 31, 2010 #

Running 58:41 [3] 5.25 mi (11:11 / mi)
shoes: NB MT790(2)

Memorial Day trails with TREX. Last night's rain made the endless roller coaster of Blair Witch a challenge at times. Wasn't really feeling it. But, all said, a pretty solid week. Time to up the mileage slightly and see how things go. 24 runs and 131 miles for May. Hardly world-class stuff, but compared to the 15 runs and 77 miles in April, definitely heading in the right direction.

Sunday May 30, 2010 #

Running 49:45 [3] 5.3 mi (9:23 / mi)
shoes: Cumulus 10

Hermann Rice short with a long opening walk. Sleep deprived + hungover (beer before wine, not fine) = craptastic run. Ice bath afterwards was excellent however.

Saturday May 29, 2010 #

Running 1:31:27 [3] 8.0 mi (11:26 / mi)
shoes: NB MT790(3)

Saturday trails with TREX. Big group. Lots of downed trees and brush from last night's storm. Sloppy conditions but nice relaxed run with the group.

Friday May 28, 2010 #

Climbing 10:00 [3] +225ft

15 floors at work. Gotta start somewhere. Long, long way to go.

Thursday May 27, 2010 #

Running 56:22 [3] 6.0 mi (9:24 / mi)
shoes: NB MT790(3)

Trails. Hard to overstate my ambivalence going into this run. Achy, no motivation, it was hot . . . Then I nearly eat it not 30 seconds into the run. Sheesh. Thing is, you NEVER know how a run is actually going to shake out. This one turned out amazingly well. 27:30 to the turnaround and felt good throughout. Hot, but starting to adapt.

Wednesday May 26, 2010 #

Running 49:49 [3] 5.0 mi (9:58 / mi)
shoes: NB MT790(2)

Trails. Very achy today. The usual suspects were bothering me. Took it pretty easy and will probably take a day off Friday, substituting a run on Memorial Day.

Tuesday May 25, 2010 #

Running 57:08 [3] 6.0 mi (9:31 / mi)
shoes: NB MT790(3)

Trails with Chris. First half felt surprisingly good. Second half had no rhythm and was a bit more of a struggle. Handled the heat pretty well today.

Note
(rest day)

Sunday May 23, 2010 #

Running 1:16:29 [3] 6.5 mi (11:46 / mi)
shoes: NB MT790(2)

Trails. Mellow run - mixed in a good bit of walking - 8/2s, then 7/3s. An extremely satisfying week overall. Consistent, solid base building. Last three runs all in the heat of the day, so some good heat acclimation as well.

Saturday May 22, 2010 #

Running 1:15:20 [3] 7.0 mi (10:46 / mi)
shoes: NB MT790(3)

Trails - Green + Blue, Orange, Yellow, Red. Hot, hot, hot. Pulled back on the pace a bit and managed the heat a little better.

Friday May 21, 2010 #

Running 59:40 [3] 6.0 mi (9:57 / mi)
shoes: NB MT790(2)

Afternoon trails. Endless Loop + Green out and back. Hot as hell. Ran to the turnaround without any walking. Concentrated on pulling back to keep from overheating on the way back. Worked, sort of. Still woozy from the heat by the time I was done.

Thursday May 20, 2010 #

Running 36:15 [3] 4.2 mi (8:38 / mi)
shoes: Cumulus 10

Hermann with Braes loop to footbridge. Humid as hell, but not bad temperature. Legs felt okay for the second run in 12 hours.

Wednesday May 19, 2010 #

Running 54:07 [3] 5.5 mi (9:50 / mi)
shoes: NB MT790(3)

Trails. Copy of yesterday, but solo and sans the second Endless Loop. Solid first 2/3 and then a heat-induced slog over the last 1/3. Acclimating to the heat still.

Tuesday May 18, 2010 #

Running 59:16 [3] 6.0 mi (9:53 / mi)
shoes: NB MT790(3)

Trails with Chris. Very warm and ridiculously muggy. Started out strong but the heat took its toll at the end. Nevertheless, it felt like a breakthrough run in some ways. Strong overall, given the heat, and the hip/abs/shin wasn't really much of an issue.

Monday May 17, 2010 #

Note
weight:174lbs

Gym. About 30 minutes working the machines - core and quads mostly. Weight: 174. Need to be 10 lbs lighter by Firetrails.

Sunday May 16, 2010 #

Running 1:00:43 [3] 6.3 mi (9:38 / mi)
shoes: NB MT790(3)

Allen Parkway / Memorial with an extra Waugh / Shepherd loop. First 4.9 in 45 minutes - slow and easy. Some more walking on the extra loop. Humid as hell, but overall a MUCH better run than the day before.

Saturday May 15, 2010 #

Running 50:20 [3] 5.5 mi (9:09 / mi)
shoes: Cumulus 10

Hermann - Rice short. Hard to imagine a crappier 5.5 miles. A struggle from the first step to the last. Stuff aches, legs dead, breathing for sh-t. Nice.

Friday May 14, 2010 #

Running 53:36 [3] 5.5 mi (9:45 / mi)
shoes: NB MT790(3)

Trails. Warm and muggy, but a really good, consistent run. Minimal ab, hip, shin issues.

Thursday May 13, 2010 #

Running 25:10 [3] 3.2 mi (7:52 / mi)
shoes: Cumulus 10

Hermann loop. Mixed in a good deal of speed play / change-of-pace. Fun in small doses. Pretty strong run overall.

Wednesday May 12, 2010 #

Note

Took a zero day. Had planned a run after mediation, but I was beat & it was hot.

Tuesday May 11, 2010 #

Running 38:09 [3] 4.4 mi (8:40 / mi)
shoes: Cumulus 10

Braes loop to Cambridge + Hermann loop. Stuff hurt more or less the whole time, but the legs felt strong otherwise. Saw 27 (yes, 27) rabbits in the first 1.2 miles along Braes Bayou. Insane.

Sunday May 9, 2010 #

Running 46:50 [3] 5.0 mi (9:22 / mi)
shoes: NB MT790(2)

Allen Parkway / Memorial loop. Slow and easy, with some walking. Sore & tired. Ready for a day off.

Saturday May 8, 2010 #

Running 1:50:00 [3] 10.0 mi (11:00 / mi)
shoes: NB MT790(3)

Saturday trails with TREX. A little muggy, but not too bad. Died over the last half hour.

Friday May 7, 2010 #

Running 27:18 [3] 3.2 mi (8:32 / mi)
shoes: Cumulus 10

Bleeh. Achy hip and abs. Legs felt okay though. It was 3.2 miles. That's about all there is to say.

Thursday May 6, 2010 #

Running 52:15 [3] 4.75 mi (11:00 / mi)
shoes: NB MT790(3)

Afternoon trails with Chris. Very relaxed pace. After the usual initial ab tightness, everything felt great. Good run.

Wednesday May 5, 2010 #

Running 24:54 [3] 3.2 mi (7:47 / mi)
shoes: Cumulus 10

Hermann loop. Pushed the pace and mixed in some speed play. Solid effort.

Tuesday May 4, 2010 #

Running 36:56 [3] 4.4 mi (8:24 / mi)
shoes: Cumulus 10

Braes loop plus Hermann. Solid, consistent effort. Pleasant morning. Hip achy, but not too bad.

Saturday May 1, 2010 #

Running 1:02:31 [3] 5.5 mi (11:22 / mi)
shoes: NB MT790(3)

Trails. Hot and humid as hell. So much for spring. Hip/back bothered me a bit. Saw 2 snakes - one a 3'+ m-f!
