Running 46:49 [3] 5.7 mi (8:13 / mi)
shoes: Pure Connect-DayGlo

Hermann-Rice short GW. Had originally planned to go longer, but a terrible night's sleep convinced me to keep it short. Tired early on, but felt okay otherwise. Overall, July sucked. But I don't think my base running fitness took much of a hit. And, big picture, nearly as many miles have been logged through the first 7 months of this year than all of 2011.

Monday Jul 30, 2012 #

Running 52:16 [3] 6.4 mi (8:10 / mi)
shoes: Pure Connect-DayGlo

Hermann-Rice long GW. No specific plans this morning other than to get the mileage in. Miserably humid.

Sunday Jul 29, 2012 #

Walking 48:39 [3] 3.75 mi (12:58 / mi)
shoes: Kinvara 2

Sunday afternoon walk/run combo. About 40/60 slow run/walk. Late-July hot, so I wanted to keep the effort easy.

Saturday Jul 28, 2012 #

Running 1:14:05 [3] 7.25 mi (10:13 / mi)
shoes: Brooks Pure Grit

Saturday trails and Lieberman loop. About 45 mins with TREX in the HO, but I just don't find it worth running back there anymore. In terrible shape. Utterly depressing. So I broke off for a bleh loop with about 27,000 others. Gotta get out of these Saturday morning run doldrums.

Thursday Jul 26, 2012 #

Running 44:34 [3] 5.7 mi (7:49 / mi)
shoes: Pure Connect-DayGlo

Hermann-Rice short GW. A little pressed for time this morning, so I stuck to the short route. Everything felt pretty good. A plus effort, but it didn't feel crazy hard. Had I needed to run another mile, it would have been another story.

Wednesday Jul 25, 2012 #

Note
(rest day)

Just didn't happen this morning. Foot was pretty sore, so a zero day isn't a terrible thing. May be able to sneak something in after work (although not likely).

Tuesday Jul 24, 2012 #

Running 49:49 [3] 6.4 mi (7:47 / mi)
shoes: Brooks Pure Connect

Hermann-Rice long GW. Got the idea in my head last night that I wanted to go sub-8:00/mile average on this run. Not really speedwork, but just a solid effort. Definitely a notch up in intensity, but sustainable for the first 5 miles. Then the goal changed to going sub - 50:00 for the entire run. Why? Who knows where stupid thoughts come from. Everything became much less smooth and more labored after that. Still, definitely one of the quicker times for this distance.

Monday Jul 23, 2012 #

Running 45:34 [3] 5.7 mi (8:00 / mi)
shoes: Pure Connect-DayGlo

Hermann-Rice short GW. Back at it after a lost week. The left foot is still talking to me, but it wasn't too much of an issue. A little lethargic early on, but the legs came around after a couple of miles.

Friday Jul 20, 2012 #

Running 51:22 [3] 6.4 mi (8:02 / mi)
shoes: Pure Connect-DayGlo

Hermann-Rice long GW. Back at it after a summer break necessitated by work and an achy foot. Work still sucks and the foot still hurts, but after 3 days off, my psyche needed a run. Hot and sticky (as if that's news). Legs felt rested but the system as a whole felt sort of flat. Not unusual after a few days off.

Thursday Jul 19, 2012 #

Note
(rest day)

Day of rest #3. Feel like a total slug. Planned a late-afternoon run, but Chris suggested beer instead. I'm so weak.

Wednesday Jul 18, 2012 #

Note
(rest day)

Day of rest #2. BTW, work sucks.

Tuesday Jul 17, 2012 #

Note
(rest day)

Going to let the foot chill for a day or two. No reason to push things in the middle of July.

Monday Jul 16, 2012 #

Running 54:36 [3] 6.8 mi (8:02 / mi)
shoes: Pure Connect-DayGlo

Hermann-Rice long plus GW. Left foot continuing to ache. Always something. Otherwise, a pretty solid run. Legs felt good after the day off.

Sunday Jul 15, 2012 #

Walking 30:41 [3] 2.0 mi (15:20 / mi)
shoes: Brooks Pure Connect

Late-afternoon stroll around Braes. Steamy.

Saturday Jul 14, 2012 #

Running 1:51:44 [3] 12.25 mi (9:07 / mi)
shoes: Pure Connect-DayGlo

Saturday concrete with Chris. Tour of the urban wilderness. Not quite as warm as usual because of the rain, but that doesn't mean there wasn't sweat. A lot of sweat. Physically tired after a long couple of days of travel, but the legs weren't too bad.

Friday Jul 13, 2012 #

Running 33:17 [3] 4.0 mi (8:19 / mi)
shoes: Kinvara 2

Hotel treadmill in Charlotte. Dreadmill sucks. Better than nothing, I suppose.

Thursday Jul 12, 2012 #

Running 51:16 [3] 6.4 mi (8:01 / mi)
shoes: Pure Connect-DayGlo

Hermann-Rice long GW. Tried to squeeze this one in between lines of thunderstorms. Almost managed to do so. Almost. First couple of miles were run in still air, overwhelming humidity. Second couple in light to moderate rain - very refreshing. Last couple in a wicked downpour - lightning, driving wind, stinging heavy rain, flooded trails. Whew! Pure lunacy. After last year's summer of no rain, I'll take this any day.

Tuesday Jul 10, 2012 #

Running 44:17 [3] 5.7 mi (7:46 / mi)
shoes: Brooks Pure Connect

Hermann-Rice short GW. Rain-cooled morning made for good speed play conditions. Completely unstructured fartleks for miles 2-5. Pretty enjoyable workout overall.

Monday Jul 9, 2012 #

Running 54:41 [3] 6.8 mi (8:02 / mi)
shoes: Pure Connect-DayGlo

Hermann-Rice long plus GW. Legs definitely felt better after a bit of rest. Hit the early splits pretty slow but managed to perk up a little on the back side. Super humid this morning. Bleh.

Sunday Jul 8, 2012 #

Note
(rest day)

Day 'o rest.

Saturday Jul 7, 2012 #

Hiking 2:10:00 [3] 7.25 mi (17:56 / mi)
shoes: Inov-8 Roclite 295

Government Canyon SNA w/ Robert. Just what the doctor ordered. Change of scenery, rocky trails, not oppressively hot, and solid time on the feet. Wish I had this place in my backyard.

Friday Jul 6, 2012 #

Running 33:45 [3] 4.0 mi (8:26 / mi)
shoes: Brooks Pure Connect

Hermann long. The less said about this run, the better. Flat legs. HH sounded like a great idea at the time. Didn't sound so good this morning. Here's to hiking followed by an off day.

Thursday Jul 5, 2012 #

Running 56:09 [3] 6.8 mi (8:15 / mi)
shoes: Pure Connect-DayGlo

Hermann-Rice long GW plus. A pretty dead-legged run, which along with the heat meant the perceived effort was high. Dragged my ass through it though.

Wednesday Jul 4, 2012 #

Running 1:28:19 [3] 10.5 mi (8:25 / mi)
shoes: Brooks Pure Connect

Hermann-Double Rice-Village GW. Not going to be able to run long this Sat, so decided to do some extra today. Managed to keep the pace pretty solid for the distance. Good run.

Tuesday Jul 3, 2012 #

Running 55:17 [3] 6.8 mi (8:08 / mi)
shoes: Pure Connect-DayGlo

Hermann-Rice long GW plus. Back at it after a couple of days off. Legs predictably flat early on, but everything fell into place after a couple of miles. Strong and steady effort.

Sunday Jul 1, 2012 #

Note
(rest day)

Zero day. Tomorrow too. Time to let the legs recharge.
