Hermann short loop. A very careful approach this morning. 2-minute walk breaks buffering 3-4 minute blocks of running. The calf is still a bit sore, but it never tightened up during the run. Tomorrow off, then something with more extended blocks of running.

Braes short loop. Mixed walk with a bunch of very short (10-20 sec) bits of running. Calf is still a little tight, so the return to running is going to be slow.

Hermann-Rice extra short. Well, crap. The little ache in the calf at the very end of yesterday's run recurred about 3.5 miles into this one and essentially stopped me in my tracks. A lot of walking for a bit and then I was able to shuffle gingerly back home. Going to stay off it for a few days and then try to work back very slowly. Calfs are tricky creatures.

Hermann-Rice short. The groin/hip/low back issue that plagued Sunday's run was present, but not debilitating & really kind of faded toward the end of the run. Also had the left calf tighten up literally with only about 50 yards left. So, I obviously need to pay close attention and keep these issues from becoming more than a nuisance. On the other hand, the pace was really good today & never felt especially hard. In fact, I was a little surprised when I check my watch at the end.

Hermann short (cut short). Started out as a run-of-the-mill Sunday jaunt. Tried to keep the effort very conservative. Nevertheless, about 4 miles in, the groin and low back on the left side (of course) started to tighten pretty significantly. Rather than run through it, I took the most direct route home via a mix of gingerly jogging and walking. Planned day off Monday will hopefully do the trick.

Terry Hershey with Chris. A chilly, but humid morning meant a wonderful combination of cold hands and sweaty everything else. In truth, it was great weather and a solid run. Nice to run on the trails without any foot, knee, rib, etc, etc pain...

Hermann-Rice short. Frosty, crisp morning. A little schizo - slow start with a hard push during the second half. This made for a kind of ragged feel to the run, but the result was a pretty decent pace overall. Need to start pushing the pace a little bit more on a consistent basis.

Hermann + bayou loop. Each August, I promise never to complain about being too cold while running. It's not breaking that promise to state that I'll be glad when it's maybe a few degrees warmer. This was a chilly one & because it was relatively short, not a lot of it was run when I had finally warmed up. Kinda sluggish overall - a zero day tomorrow is in order.

Hermann + bayou loop. Legs were predictably heavy, but I still managed to hold a steady, fairly comfortable clip. As long as I can manage to get out there on a consistent basis over the next week, they'll come around. Time for a rest day.

Hermann-Rice short. Really beautiful late-morning weather - cool and sunny. Wouldn't say that things felt particularly great (neuroma on the left foot flared up after about 4 miles), but I felt strong enough to consider tacking on another mile at the end (decided against it). May take a zero day tomorrow, or may not.
