Hiking 2:00:00 [3] 5.0 mi (24:00 / mi) +800ft 20:51 / mi
shoes: Inov8 Roclite 295-v2

GNP - Bush Mountain Trail, up and over the Marcus Overlook and back. Felt pretty wasted from the previous day's hike and a poor night's sleep. Unusually calm winds overnight led to significant condensation in the tent. Which in turn led to the need to remove the fly, sleeping bag, pad, etc. and wait for the sun to work its drying magic. Which in turn led to a very late start to the hike. Once I got up on the Marcus Ridge and started the descent, my right shin (which had been sore toward the end of the previous day) began to ache. After dropping maybe 100 vertical feet, I decided I didn't really want to hike down to the Marcus campsite just to turn back around and hike up again. So, I turned back, climbed back to the overlook, took a seat, and just enjoyed the amazing views and utter solitude.

Hiking 35:00 [3] 1.5 mi (23:20 / mi)
shoes: Inov8 Roclite 295-v2

GNP - Mid-afternoon stretch of the legs up to the park entrance (on the border) and then back down Tejas for a bit to get some decent photos. Just enough to justify another beer.

Hiking 6:00:00 [3] 15.0 mi (24:00 / mi) +1800ft 21:33 / mi
shoes: Inov8 Roclite 295-v2

GNP - Tejas to McKittrick to McKittrick campsite and back. Nice, relaxed pace both ways. Easy to forget how technical much of these trails are. The early part of the McKittrick Trail is quite narrow & at times a little overgrown. But the views down into the canyon were spectacular. Weather was a little schizo - sunny and mild with calm winds one minute, overcast, breezy, and chilly the next. Felt pretty worked by the end.

Hiking 45:00 [3] 2.0 mi (22:30 / mi) +225ft 20:20 / mi
shoes: Inov8 Roclite 295-v2

Fort Davis National Historical Site. Hiked a nice little loop that overlooked the fort site. Very cool place.

Running 49:29 [3] 5.8 mi (8:32 / mi)
shoes: Brooks PureFlow 2 Blue

Hermann-Rice short. Calves were "meh" but everything else felt fine. However, as I log this run some hours later, they're just killing me. Think it's time to shut it down for a bit. Should have lots of low impact hiking to keep from feeling too fat. Will focus on getting past this for the next few weeks.

Walking 40:03 [3] 2.5 mi (16:01 / mi)
shoes: Brooks PureFlow 2

Hermann short. Calves were amazingly sore, but I wanted to get out and move around a little on a very pretty afternoon.
