Couple of wee shadowing sessions. Dundurn - lovely with no undergrowth but some marshes were worrying deep (for the juniors) and the place was crawling with ticks...
With S up Peters Hill. Realised as soon as I started that it wasn't going to pretty. Struggling badly on hill and then a bit of a suffer-fest back along the river. Shame as the woods are so lovely. Guess it is yesterday's pace effort telling... Need more speed sessions to be able to handle speed!
Cambus time trial - 20-40, worst ever I think. Kept it sensible and at limit for much of it, need some more speed work to get legs moving faster on flats and downs. heart/lungs definitely limiting factor on uphills. a good starting point for the season :-)
Visited old stamping grounds - Dinnet - riverbank to west and back along estate track then Deeside Way (newly redone). Such a pleasant route - lots of daffodils out along the river bank, lots of signs of floods from this winter plus whole river line changes from 2016 flood. Passed a group of games at a fishing hut - at least 6 cars with more arriving - illegal pairtie? Legs felt a bit tight from yesterday's effort, should have tried warm-down after. But nice run and mostly flat :-)
Good long warm-up at Cambus. Feeling crap at start but gradually got a better feeling in legs/body.
orienteering race 21:00 [5]
Cambus forest sprint. Pushing hard all the way and definitely limited by chest/breathing rather than legs - feeling strong in terrain. Wait to see what Matthew did!
Lap of Dess woods as warm up - feeling pretty rubbish at start but ended up at Des burn bridge and did...
Intervals hills 5:00 [5]
5 x 1 + 1 on the Deeside Way, walking back between so managed to get 5 in to just past high point. Let pretty poor distance but I did the effort. Gotta start somewhere :-)
