Ratlum Mtn Night-O. Orienteering in the dark and snow - lots of fun. About 2 or 3 inches of wet snow on the ground (and branches) with snow falling while I was out. Orienteering was OK but with some of fumbling around in the circles to actually find controls. Never found #8, although I'm sure I was within about 10 meters of it (probably several times). After about 15 minutes of searching I gave up and continued. Also lost 3 or 4 minutes between 5 and 6 getting caught in some unmapped mountain laurel. Time should've been a bit under an hour. FR measured 5.1km

Thanks to Charlie and Rhonda for hosting a fine orienteering and holiday party.

Western Mass Rules Score-O at Mt. Tom. Nice course set by Phil on a perfect day for orienteering (50 and sunny, continuing the streak for November). Went counterclockwise, doing the more technical controls across the road first (got #8 on the way). Hit all the controls pretty well (employed the technique of keeping in contact with the map). Only error was in choosing to do 11-7-6-10 rather than 7-6-11-10 and had to go about 400m further and climb about 50m extra. FR measured 7.55 km.
