QOC Bumble at Seneca Creek Park/Smokey Glen Farm near Gaithersburg, MD. Mass start, handicapped race. Course had mandatory first and last controls and five windows, each with five controls. Handicap dictated how many windows you needed to visit (once you started a window you needed to get all the controls in that window).

Did the Green course, requiring three of the five windows. Control order: 1-ONKLM-UVWXY-QRTSP-27. Searched around a bit for X and Y, overshot Q and made a brain-dead error on the last control searching a gully 70m from the previous control rather than the one 300m away which had the control in it. The X, Y and Q errors were probably 3-4 minutes total. The last control error was probably 2 minutes but cost me a place to Jan Merka with whom I’d been flip-flopping but was easily ahead of at the penultimate control.

Very fun course by Dave Onkst on a great map by Nadim. And great organization by Heidi Onkst and the QOC team. Quite cold with temperatures in the low 30s and windy - but a heated building for socializing afterwards (and pizza!). Thanks to all the volunteers.
