Orienteering race 56:41 [4] *** 9.5 km (5:58 / km) +210m 5:22 / km

Madrid Championships in Casa de Campo

Race 3: Long

At least this map was accurate. One control was misplaced by about 30-40 meters again. I suppose in the middle of field is a difficult place for novices to place controls accurately. I ran quite well otherwise. Races in Casa de Campo are almost like a long sprint and it showed today. On the long trail leg most people ran 11-12 minutes and I ran 9. I was just rolling. Not fast enough though since I came in 2nd to Santiago Jimenez who is in great shape lately. Just more motivation.

Running warm up/down 15:00 [3] 3.0 km (5:00 / km)

Warm up and cool down for the race.

Orienteering race 53:28 [3] *** 5.3 km (10:05 / km) +150m 8:50 / km

Madrid Championships 2014 in Boadilla del Monte.

Race 1: Middle

Really pissed with this race. The map was crap and controls were terribly misplaced. I had 2 controls about 40 meters out of the circle. Ugh. Not much to comment on here. 11th place out of 40. Should have won.

Orienteering race (Sprint) 18:10 [4] 3.0 km (6:03 / km) +110m 5:07 / km

Madrid Championships 2014 in Boadilla del Monte.

Race 2: Sprint

This was a relatively difficult forest sprint. There were a few controls I had to really hold back on because of lack of good attackpoints and catching features. I came in third one minute behind the leader. I did however almost skip one of the controls. 13, 14, and 15 were in a straight line. While running from 13 to 14 I quickly tried to plan my route to 15. I got to a trail about 200 meters past 14, suddenly asked myself if I had punched 14 and couldn't remember. I figured I hadn't and rushed back up. All told I lost about 2 minutes, meaning I would have won by 2 minutes if not for that silly error.

Running warm up/down 30:00 [3] 6.0 km (5:00 / km)

Warm up and cool down for the races.

Running 30:00 [3] 5.0 km (6:00 / km)

Running down to Villalba to meet up with the guys.

Orienteering 1:10:00 [4] *** 10.0 km (7:00 / km) +250m 6:13 / km

Training in La Jarosa.

First section was 13 controls in a score-o format. We had a mass start, 30 minutes to visit as many as possible and where we finished was where we started the second section. I got 12. No errors to report, just that it's reallllllly difficult to see the biodegradable streamers in the woods.

Second section was a fast forest sprint on a prohibited section of forest. (Uh-oh) Really beautiful woods that were perfectly mapped. Great stuff. No errors. Except for trying to look for the stinking, tiny, nearly invisible streamers.
