Orienteering race 26:04 intensity: (20:04 @3) + (6:00 @4) 2.6 km (10:02 / km) +90m 8:33 / km

CSU intermediates at Pine Hill. Brisk, sunny but spent most of day in shadow. About a B run. Very much an amateur on way to first control - lost maybe 90", maybe even 2'. Over ran 3, lost maybe 45".Went left on 6, thru start and finish, stopped one reent early, finally saw the rather lg RF I was looking at on the map & proceeded on. Was with Jeff S and PG came along. Followed them to last control, PG did not see it on map, finished & retrieved it, still way ahead. Not enough zip.... Walk to town/lunch with Phil, found a nice bakery, had an excellent sandwich. We both evidentally are ham & cheese on rye types.

The lineup Saturday, Joe being the most likely...

Larry and Sara Mae spent the entire day in the shade, warming up for the winter ski season no doubt

Jim whiling away the hours between runs

Orienteering 32:04 intensity: (22:04 @3) + (10:00 @4) 3.1 km (10:21 / km) +105m 8:51 / km

Finals, intermediate. A 'B' run. Reasonable thru #7. Eight somehow got to left & lost maybe 45". Enroute nine saw a pond that I did not see on map (& did not notice open marsh til after) so was instilled with considerable doubt. Few others I knew around so that helped. #10 went basically straight & managed to read rock faces wrong, came out on spur 60m wnw - saw lg bldr in distance & figured it out. Running with Bob Dangel on several of these controls. #11 well tucked in. #12 did not stay up high, must have lost 90" to PG's split - haven't looked. 13-4 with Bob. 3rd M60 after PG & Jeff.
