Skate skiing 25:00 [2]

BHS around sunset. Kids were training on their groomed oval. Ended up using the track and infield, sunny side only due to snow depth and surface. Nice to be on skis. Had been since Thanksgiving snow. Pretty sunset on Turee. Pickup on the ice far out. 5F to start the day.

Note

Called Concord surgical today re inquiry about hernia surgery and might I be accommodated by, say, Feb 1 so I'll have recovered by 2/25 overseas trip. They got back to me with a proposal for surgery next Tuesday, H&P and pre-op visit day after tomorrow. I saw this surgeon last May and he wasn't impressed with his finding at that time. I've lived with it since then and it has had its moments (usually when w/o truss) - occasionally stopping me from what I'm doing (in form of a sharp burning pain), receiving my undivided attention.

In 2011, I had the same problem on the right side. It declared itself while mapping at Bear Brook - prolonged motionless standing providing good exacerbation. I went to the O-Ringen that summer wondering how it would fare (fine with truss), and had it repaired in late summer or early fall.

Procrastination is my middle name. It felt good to get such a let's-get-this done response from the surgeon's office. It acted up at the end of the Bahamas trip, reminding me about being out on a limb in third world countries.
