Walking 15:00 [1] 0.5 mi (29:59 / mi)

Am DP, another perfect fall day in the making.

Road/trail 45:00 [2] 4.0 mi (11:15 / mi)
shoes: New Balance 1011

SPS wander after MSO, ie, 1:45, 80F. Had planned on something with enthusiasm until I realized a noon mtg, then it was a losing battle. Quintessential October day with sparkling water & leaves drifting slowly down.

Orienteering 3:00:00 [1] 5.0 mi (36:00 / mi)

At Hayes Field just at dawn. Not often am I up so early so it was refreshing to see the eastern sky lightening. We did our vetting zones, downloaded and checked to see all cp's were there/vsited. I think the courses were ok. Maybe some near repetition in green over the two days. Had not seen the stands we used before. Belonged to Val Meyer - very easy to place exactly where one wanted. Vetting proof was in e-punch downloading cp's visited and comparing against a master all-controls list. This seemed rather foolproof. We were done by 4pm. Ernst's saying "we've got them all" meaning all the SI units etc was most welcome. I was tired.... Weather was sunny, even hot in direct sun. Woods were lovely. How nice to be part of a competent crew. All-around exchange of hugs w/ Val, handshakes with guys and away we went, another BD completed!

Orienteering 42:15 [2] 4.0 km (10:34 / km)

Vetting loop w/ SI utility. Will get around to 305 truthfulness.

Orienteering (course setting related) 2:30:00 [1] 4.0 mi (37:30 / mi)

BB A meet, putting out remaining controls/vetting. On the way to the very first control, a voice spoke out in the woods but first glance was a blank. It was a hunter 20' up in a tree asking if there was going to be a lot of people in the area. At end of day, as I was passing the Leavitt cemetery plot, a biker asked me for water. Bring back water from a water stop, I was only too happy to oblige. Courses were fine, no complaints I was aware of. Dinner at home with Hans Bengtsson, Bill Pullman, a toddler grandson (mischief personified), 4 labs and a lot of laughs.

Orienteering (controls) 4:30:00 [1] 5.0 mi (54:00 / mi)

Met at 0900 & went our (Alar, Jim, Ernst, JJ, Lex, me) separate ways. Hi 30s this AM. Brought dogs along to tire them out/shut them up. Big tent appearing lended stature. Everything went smoothly, Ernst the conductor.

Work party: coffee break

Note

No training time today. Nice to know I'm able to spend all day tomorrow at BB in preparation with a sufficient # of competent people to share the work.
And Saturday & Sunday as well, everything seemingly in control. And an ideal weather forecast. The view at this moment is quite rosy....

Walking 16:00 [1] 0.5 mi (31:59 / mi)

Beth away so DP for me. Was a poignant moment of the day,
just before the sun dipped below the land. Dogs nose to the ground....

At a glance, these seemed to comprise several basic ingredients

3 PM

Orienteering 56:18 [3] 5.49 km (10:16 / km) +73m 9:37 / km

Bear Brook after work - wanted to run Sunday's green to enlighten myself.... Weather changed, quite windy in field. Steady effort, two misses: #7 went to what I thought was end of big reentrant and then figured just west & missed. Missed #14, boulder in green, tho I'd been there twice already! Leg felt ok. Leaves have dropped off a lot - quite open compared to summer thru mid-September. Still considerable green deciduous but what a change. No one in sight at start, a few mountain bikers in field by time I finished.

Road/trail 7:28 [2] 1.03 km (7:16 / km)

To start triangle from parking.

Weightexercise workout 45:00 [1]

Went to T.I. First time in months - rained most of day but by time I left to go there, it was rather nice out but had a "date" with Beth. Tried 30' express but not really special. Why is it that I don't care for the gym!:-). Especially don't like the never-off MTV channel in the locker room. Mean to send them an email to that effect - at least have a survey, maybe turn the unappreciated, unwanted? thing off for good.

Leg is really beginning to feel normal. No negative feedback with certain stretches that were provocative earlier. Thought of PG's saying that times of injury seemed to correlate with visits to gym and with his cessation of visits, they've gone away. Quite a "hmm..." thought - have been looking for reasons as to why the past 2 springs. Certain exercises may indeed be provocative.

Walking 18:00 [1] 0.75 mi (24:00 / mi)

PM DP, post-5 nights in the kennel - all smiles. Slough & back, pitter patter.
