Muckross

Been a while since I did a long run and they are necessary in the coming weeks. Body held up for the run so that’s a positive, calves not perfect but allowed me to get this done, can’t be complacent with them. That being said pushing the running buggy for 90 minutes results in tired arms!

Made this run up as I went along. Had the bright idea to go up the side of Torc Waterfall on the Dinis side. Path is actual rougher than I’d have liked and still as steep so buggy pushing wasn’t fun here. Erik slept through. As I climbed I had the idea if I saw someone near the turn off to cardiac that looked like they’d done that loop to ask them the way to cardiac. Sadly I didn’t meet anyone around there so good idea wasted.

Got into the car afterwards to drive back home. Need a drink after the run. When what do I hear from the back seat, “ohfu” (Erik’s word for water, has lots of correct words but water isn’t one of them). So had to pass my bottle back, no drink for daddy! The fella who’d been asleep for the last 70 minutes was Clearly thirstier than I was.

I set the virtual partner on my watch to 5.30 min km. Keep things a bit slower for the run. The Torc climb killed the average, did gain some time back later. Must look at that setting to see if there’s a way to reset it during a session.

Think I’d around 70-80 cubs out who I think had a good time.

The weather held in the end, very lucky, rain came very heavy later in the afternoon.

One of the teams (all boys) that were out a while I heard had got the first two controls but then found a dead fish. They arrived back with said fish (small, unsure of type) in the map bag which they’d filled with water. I asked them why the dead fish needed water???

Breaking Bad S03 E11

Knew the legs weren't there pretty quickly, tired, i'm assuming running faster yesterday took more out of me than I thought. So getting this done wasn't easy, did think I wouldn't finish the episode after about 20 minutes but got there.

Was trying to plan a route for a longer run on Sunday in my head today but remembered that I might be taking Erik out so we'll see what happens. Pushing the running buggy is more effort.

Lovely day but then decided to start raining in time for my run. Chap returning to his car parked next to mine was good enough to point that out!
The rain was cold.

Body felt good starting out and pace was decent, so kept it up. Calves behaved themselves which is good. Being more positive about them but don't trust them either.

Vikings S06 E08

This evening was an example of the limited time available between work and home life to squeeze in some training. Spin was grand, legs not too tired. Bit of messing with the cadence sensor to start off with, wasn't picking up.

Both kids had bad nights so at 4am I was not going running today. Bit of a headache due to lack of sleep when we got up and was mindful that I’ve a 4 hour drive over to Clonmel and back to do this afternoon which was another reason to rest. But it was a lovely morning and dropping Erik off at crèche took longer than expected due to traffic so that gave me time to reconsider my earlier decision.

Just went up the road for an explore. Stayed in the forest. Small paths off the main one were a bit overgrown particularly up around the depressions. Found the 2nd one too. And on my way back along the bigger track heading for home saw a big depression I’d not noticed before. Don’t come here too often though.

Legs tired to start off with but improved. Ankles didn’t enjoy the lack of tape but nothing serious.

Note
(rest day)

Legs okayish today, right calf a small bit tight but no worse than last Monday. Right knee is a bit iffy too, need to stretch the quads more. Also have a bruised toe on my left foot, either from early on the course yesterday or more likely when I smacked it off the Baby Bjorn seat last night, couldn't even curse when that happened due to the proximity of sleeping children, hobbled into the living room to recover.

Monday - Rest
Tuesday - Run
Wednesday - Bike
Thursday - Run
Friday - Bike
Saturday - Some running, event organising
Sunday - Run
