There was snow but It was soo HOT! felt at least 25 if not 30, was sweatin'!
so not much warming up.

Orienteering race (Southern Champs) 1:09:48 [3] *** 7.6 km (9:11 / km) +360m 7:26 / km

*GARMIN- 9.1km, 524m climb

Good event and a great map
A lot of the mistakes were due to lack of confidence after yesterday + some more bearing mistakes (most of them downhill of the control)
So need to plan better and concentrate on compassing, also I didn't run very fast again to save energy but was fine.

2- Bearing off + overshot, didn't see tower (40s)
3- Overshot + missed tower (20s)
4- Was put off by early mistakes so saw a control and went to it, wrong one (45s)
9- I was looking on the wrong section of Crtl description (road crossings) so found it and went on looking. (1min)
(Jack caught me up)
11- Bad bearing (30s)
12- Overshot, bad bearing (30s)
13- Overshot, bad bearing (20s)
14- Couldn't find a gap in first fence (5s)
- Went too far up the path so had to double back (20s)
- Bad bearing into it (20s)
(Jack overtook me)
16- The veg boundary was deceptive so overshot (50s)
19- Tried to navigate by features but should have taken a bearing because they were very vague.

Total: 7min 10s (Bad again)

Well, the 'spiked controls' bit above sums this race up

The map sorely needed updating I thought especially the vegetation, north lines and ditches. Plus I don't think i was planning that well today

Mistakes-
1- Didn't have a solid Plan + missed the ditch
2- Slow (10s)
3- No solid plan + bad bearing to path junction (1min)
8- Had this one before as a control and messed it up. Was slow, hesitant and it was a much longer distance than I expected (20s)
9- Slow
10 & 11 (+14)- Vegetation very wrong (10s)
12- Good plan but on my second bearing sighting I messed it up and got to the path in the wrong place so did a parallel error (2min 30s)
13- Bad bearing (40s)
16- Bas bearing + lost of ditches randomly not on the map (1min 20s)
18- Slow
19 and ⦾- Bad bearing (20s)

Overall- 7minutes (BAD) + I was going round at jogging pace because of the ditches and the fact that I ran out of energy last weekend. It was also very hard on the legs with snow, mud, brashings and ditches.

My knee hurts when I put weight on it (ie. walking) probably the way i have been sitting again. Hopefully it will be good for the weekend.

Needed to get a run in this week. Just went out to the motorway wood down a new track I found when mapping, ran around the wood a bit then came back. I had planned to go into 3 small new woods including Chappletown slag-heap but got bored cus theres no-one to run with so cut back through the village.
