Orienteering (Mudbath) 49:24 [4] 4.9 km (10:05 / km) +200m 8:22 / km
shoes: Brooks CASCADIA 5

YHJS team 2. Joe Woodley first leg- he was doing really well but had a costly mistake and came back about 10minutes down. I started warming up but got bored after half an hour then waited about another hour for Scott to come back from his 2.6km course.. He had overtook YHJS team 4 i think and was just 2minutes behind Aidan.
I had a confusing start where I had to run through various officials and finished teams all looking my way. Made a few minor mistakes totalling about 2-3minutes which is quite poor. Tbh I took advantage of having blisters, sunburn, tired from waiting, being set off after the winners finished, the area being really slow... I know I could have done it in 35 even without training beforehand.

Event: Jircs 2011

10 AM

Orienteering race (Sunburning) 1:31:00 [3] 12.0 km (7:35 / km) +200m 7:00 / km
shoes: Inov-8 MUDCLAW 272

Nev said good 10minutes to the start, i got there in 2 by jogging. The course was quite easy but the planners did a good job with an area like that (ie open and rediculously easy). I was running at 6min/km by the time I got to the endo of the dunes but the heat killed me on the way back so I was up doing about 8min/km by then.
After that it went further down hill as I developed blisters(from sand) and backache(from illness last week) and I enede up walking the whole of the second map.

Note

2hrs mapping scholes. Started on a different part of the map. It was slow going because not only did I have to map the vegetation but also correct adams paths AND my old mapping which I did before I learnt to pace. I then went to finish off Scholes village.
The map is looking good! 4 or 5 more sessions and the main wood, Keppel field, the bray plantation and Scholes field will be ready for a spring cup! Then we can finish the other wood and host a large event.

Note

Bristol Uni Open Day.

Feeling much better now, I would go for a run tomorrow but I have coursework and I think I might go mapping instead. Over the past few days I have been doing a lot of work on gleadless and all courses are A OK apart from A(MO, M18+, M40+). I just cant find the distance!
