Did write a longer write up but it dissapaired!, lots of mistakes, over 5 mins all up, and I was a bit slow and cautious on a few other controls. Gene was very impressive absolutely smashed it.

Orienteering race 1:46:07 [4] 12.9 km (8:14 / km)
shoes: x talon 212

day 2: Started off ok, a bit slow on 2 and then lost a min or so on 3, cleanish throught to 8 where I took an average route choice and stopped a bit early lost a min there, slow route to 12, then stuffed up 13, losing about 4 mins, was looking too high up, but the map was a bit dodgy, especially the vegetation. had to stop and do up the shoe laces on the long leg, but I took the road which seemed to be the way to go. Got a fastest split on 16!, mainly due to spotting karl punching the control in front of me. lost a min or so on 18, stopped too early in some similar detail. messy for the next two. Lost atleast 2 mins on last control, must of gone within a metre of it but didn't see it so started searching near by, until seeing it. So ended up being alot of mistakes altogether, would of been happy enough with it if it wasn't for 13 and the last one, anyhow.... . Was pretty stuffed by about halfway, today, so tomorrow could be a real struggle.

Orienteering race 1:32:21 [4] 14.1 km (6:33 / km) +250m 6:01 / km
shoes: x talon 212

queens birthday day 1. Very messy off the start, for the first few, just getting into the map. lost 2 mins on 1 from just not reading the map properly. Veered way off on 3, and took me a while to figure things out before relocating lost atleast a min again. Jamie caught me up at 5 and then we kind of ran together for the next 12 or so controls, was mostly pretty good through these, with only a few small mistakes. At 18 he shot off in the wrong direction and I followed him for a tiny bit while folding my map, then had a look and realised I was going in the opposite direction to where I needed to be, lost a min or so there. lost another 30 sec or so on 20, then the rest was alright although quite slow on a few of the longer legs where I didn't really have a solid route choice in place. Overall considering the distance I'm pretty happy with my run, not as far down time wise as I expected, and I felt relatively fit the whole time. Did get a blister on each foot and some raw nipples though so will need to do some taping tommorow.
