Badge Event - Mannawarra & Prelinna
10:12 AM. Flinders Ranges. Burned 1355 calories.
Course: M21A 14.7 km 380 m
Was in this for the long haul, and what a long haul it turned out to be. I plodded along at my special pace being passed by all sorts of orienteers and some of them even got to pass me twice! Had a bit of a wobble around 9 where i don't understand the detail on the map and lost my whistle and half my jelly beans through the hole discovered in my pocket at the start. Was pretty consistent up to 16 then the fad really kicked in and i struggled to hold my direction and even my map interpretation on the final legs. Really blew #21 which should've been an easy short leg near the end of the course. I even was out-sprinted by Erica D in the chute.... Despite this, I'm proud i finished this since this was my longest orienteering race ever i beleive.

SA Night Championships - Rawnsley Park
6:36 PM. Flinders Ranges. Burned 627 calories.
Course: M21A 6.1 km 140 m
I declare that night orienteering is actually my speciality. Unlike most others, my pace doesn't slot down at night, infact it probably increases. I had so much fun with this course and only had a couple of minor errors. Error 1 was on control 1 where i miscounted/misinterpreted some gullies and overshot to the track north of the control. The other error was on 2 where i hit the creek about 100 m south of the control. Felt really good and accurate through the terrain and can record a win over Blair for the first time in my life.
