Long run along the skyline. The weather forecast was pretty wrong and instead of being the odd shower, the whole run was in horizontal northerly rain. Was ok running side-on to it, but was likely a thousand tiny bullets to the face when running into it. Some kind of masochistic fun though. HEaded up over Kaukau, along and over Otari and down to the horse paddock. Original plan was then back up to the ridgeline and over crows nest, but I was utterly drenched by then, so opted to stay out of the wind and climb up through girl guide wood instead. Then around to Bells track and home via a couple km on the road.
Love having options for long runs like this direct from home, with plenty of opt-in or bail-out points!

Tempo.
Ran away from work with borderline enough light for a tempo around the gardens. Same as last week, 2 laps of about 2km (this week my gps measured it 100m less?). HR was lower this week but perceived effort about the same. I'll stick with trusting the latter. Bit slower on the 2nd round, but that is probably down to the low light and being careful on the rough bits.

Not the most efficient route home. Managed to snag a rogaine map (thanks Simon!) For an unofficial run around. Had my flu and covid nabs today, so figured I'd just go alone and do what I felt like. Even better, the course was such I could just finish at home rather than doing a loop.
Had fun sweeping up controls around jville before heading up around the bush of the park. Tried to cut through from 73 to 33 and found a good route, until it rrally wasn't, and i was surrounded by gorse and blackberry. Got slightly ripped up, but did pop out right on the control! Going round the tracks may have been faster and less bloody though...
Up for a loop of the farmland, then over kaukau to get home. Could remember all my control answers when I got home, which I was pretty happy about. Who needs pen and paper

v Havelock North. 4-2 win. Scored what was described in the match report as a "miracle goal". Which I thought was a bit rude. Top bins would have been nicer.
