Note

Selected for WOC long! really happy with this. Summer of map geeking and training to ensue

Note
(rest day)

Overall a fun weekend. The weather was fantastic and the 7m cliff jumping was deadly as well as the orienteering being nice. Might try and see if there's any chance of getting the maps at 1:15000 and going back down for a weekend just for fun.

Also I should try and make my maps lower quality. they take ages to load on my DOMA!!

Shamrock Day 3. Chasing start. Went out about a minute behind Colm, who had Andrwe just in front of him.
Pushed it hard out of the start, caught some time on them to one and 2, but then I had gone too hard for not enough return and they got away as i missed a few seconds on 4. Coming down to 5 saw colm, Andrew Shea and Conor all running around below me and they gradually formed a train with ever increasing speed. I dropped further and further off the back not making any mistakes but having tired legs up the hill.

Crested the ridge to 19 and saw them all running around like headless chickens while i could see exactly where the control was! Floored it down the hill but Colm and Conor found it and I took it just ahead of Shea. He passed me back out just before 21 then I had a miss on 26 and they were all gone. took it handy then from 27/28 cause I knew andrew was well behind and I just had to get the controls

Shamrock Day 2.

I found this ok actually. I thought I would struggle. I was a bit tired in the middle but I was happy with how I soldiered through and the gel dod the world of good when I took it. I pushed up the last really tough hill and made it up with some success.

I went too far left at 7, it was the right route choice i think but not executed properly. then on 12 I was a bit too low cause of a fuzzy brain but otherwise I was pretty good

Shamrock Day 1

Long walk to the start today. started well, was going grand getting the controls really nicely until 10. I left 9 and was looking at my line from 7 thinking I was that high so I dropped. Came out at the re-entrant and thought I was higher than I was, across the next re-entrant up the hill and bam nothing. saw a control. Ran to it. worked it out, I was too low and then back up to 10. Oing was fine after that again then

After a lot of thinking I understand more about why I didn't finish the long last weekend.
I'm definately annoyed I thought I was fit enough to get a place on the Middle and there are various other things I have to work on

Running (road) race 45:27 [4] 7.9 km (5:45 / km) +367m 4:40 / km
shoes: salomon speed cross

I felt tired today, so so little energy in my legs, coupled with not having eaten since breakfast in France. Set myself the goal of just running all the way up the hill and succeeded in doing that so I was happy. Just relaxed on the way down and managed to pass some people. ended up racing this guy at the end where I was trying to use the minimum of energy to stay ahead of him!
