Note
(sick)

Knee seems to be better but couldn't really test it out as I seem to have picked up a cold. Woo.
Mostly resting today and plenty of throat relief. I will take it easy this week for JK anyway so it's mostly just a bigger taper than I had been planning on.

Rock Climbing (bouldering) 1:30:00 [2]
shoes: Five Ten

The Wall with Gina.

Knee is still funny so decided to give the hill run a miss. Went climbing to do some strength work and try to keep the impact low. Mostly working on the oranges which are 6a-6a+. Got plenty and was pretty happy. Very quiet so much more climbing than the usual Mondays and harder work. There is an endurance wall too which we had a go on at the end. Gets the HR up a decent bit more.

Headed down to Wicklow for the day off. Original plan was to git up Glendalough but that was stupidly busy so went up to the miner's village and invented a loop.

I started up the horrific climb towards Brockagh, then along the forest top to East Top. Nice descent to the forest then where I caught and passed some MTBers. Bit of road to the Wicklow Way then right in Glendalough to go up S. Kevin's way and then Camaderry. This climb is even more horrific and longer. Was pretty good on the first bit. Sun started to come out too and it was turning into quite the lovely day. After the false flat I was in a world of hurt though and really suffered at the top. Cruised down bast the slag heaps and back to the car.

Knee not 100%, maybe 90%. Small bit of pain on the downs but fine. Very enjoyable day out. Not much distance but a hell of a lot of climb.

Note

Knee still not perfect. Could probably run on it but I think it's better to give it another day of rest to be safe.

Note

Bloods came back. The doctor congratulated me on how healthy I am. Small bit low on iron so more red meat. He did say "your cholesterol is so low you could only McDonalds for 2 years and not have a heart attack". Means that hands will just be a management issue.

Stretching/Rehab 20:00 [0]

A lot of limbering is necessary as I haven't been doing this a whole lot recently.

Strength 10:00 [1]

30 eccentric calves
90s dynamic plank
40 back ups
20 sit ups
15 push ups

I'd love to do some squats but they are off the cards for now.

Monday Mar 14, 2016 #

Strength 4:00 [1]

Realised I couldn't cycle and was going to be late for work so cut this short. Can't really do squats either but will do more this evening.

2 mins dynamic plank (i.e. start with front then rotate to side, then other side through front and repeat)
25 sit ups
7 AM

Stretching/Rehab 20:00 [0]

Since I am not running, time to make myself get better.

Note
(injured) (rest day)

Knee sore enough this morning. It seems the issue is largely the cuts as opposed to the swelling of the joint itself. There are some tight tendons however and I think it is more sensible to give them a break rather than make things worse.

Monday - Rest
Tuesday - Rest
Wednesday - I hope I'll be back to easy running by weds
Thursday - Paddy's day, so day off work. Forecast looks ok so will go to Wicklow for a walk or a run depending.
Friday - Easy run
Saturday - Hill intervals + easy run (all going well)
Sunday - o-training
